The Hawthorndale is due to open on 5th May and we are soooo excited! This is a new model of care allowing residents to live in houses of 6-7 people, living an 'as usual' lifestyle. They will be able to be part of the daily household activities and join in if they can, or sit back and watch the meal prep or smell those aromas of food cooking, all the while stirring up those memories of the past.
The Care Village is fully geo- fenced and secure. There are cameras all around the grounds of the Village but not in the houses. The Residents assessed as having dementia will wear a bracelet which will alert to the Nurses phone in certain points, such as hallways and exit doors (once houses are locked at night), and also to exit doors from the Care Centre
During the day they will be free to walk around the Village and the Care Centre without being able to leave the building. Those not assessed as having dementia are free to leave as desired.
