DAY CARE PROGRAMME:
Our residents enjoy participating in our extensive and active 'Day Care' programme. The Day Care facility is located onsite and is attended by residents and folk from the local community. It is co-ordinated by our full time Diversional Therapist. The programme operates for 2 full days and 2-3 half days.
A large range of activities are provided from our spacious facilites. These activites include exercise music and craft. We have recently set up a computer suite where a part time special interests co-ordinator assists people with computer skills.
ACCESS TO OTHER SERVICES:
We access Age Concern through the Bay of Islands office.
The Alzhiemer's Society visit monthly on the 3rd Monday of the month.
The Arthritis Society field officer vists the area.
The local RSA is active.
Both the Kerikeri and Kaitia Stroke groups are active.
The Auxillary Women's Fellowship C.W.I. meets on the 3rd Monday of the month for those: with dementia, who have had a stroke and the frail elderly.
THE LOCAL COMMUNITY ALSO PROVIDES:
Dancing at Opononi RSA hall, entertainment at the hotel (eg pool club), resturants, bowls, Country and Western Club and Arts Society. There are garden circles at Omapare and Waimamaku. An Holistic Health Center is located in the township. A movie theatre is located in Kaikohe (45km). Activities for children in the area include weekly playcentre. Local primary school.
