Testimonials
What our clients say about Visionwest Home Healthcare: • “Having someone checking on my father every day like his support workers do is such a comfort. If there is something happening that needs some attention, they will advise their supervisors or contact one of the family. That brings incredibly peace of mind to everyone in the family. The reality is, if not for Visionwest, Dad would not be in his own home and would lose the independence he currently enjoys.” - Alison • "The care and support my mother receives from Visionwest is the highlight of her day. It makes all the difference in the world to her." - Steph. • “They are so very friendly when they come into the village. They are always compliant with use of PPE and so polite with the office staff. The residents speak very highly of them all and recommend them to other residents. I’ve never heard a bad word about Visionwest. You must do very good training because the professionalism and competence of the Support Workers is fantastic.” - Retirement Village Manager talking about Visionwest Support Workers. • "The help Visionwest gives me lets me stay in my own home, surrounded by my precious memories. I just love the support Visionwest gives me." - Edna. • “I’m so impressed with the care and thoughtfulness towards my father from his Support Worker. She has so much empathy and is a delight to have in my father’s home.” - Daughter of a client. • “She did an excellent job and is very lovely. She is the absolute best. She works hard, is very pleasant and very considerate.” - Judy. • “My Support Worker is amazing. I appreciate all the work she does. She’s kind, thoughtful and a great worker.” - Jack. Jack's daughter also called to say, “The Support Worker is just great with my Dad. She encourages him to be independent and ensures he eats his lunch when otherwise he’d often leave it untouched. She’s kind, patient and efficient. • “She [the Support Worker] is very helpful and will do all the tasks off the care plan without reservation. She’s always so cheerful and we look forward to her visits.” - Charles and Jocelyn. “I certainly couldn't live at home without support, there's absolutely no question about it. I wouldn't be able to manage now with the deterioration in my eyesight and my overall health. I wouldn't even want to try and think about being without my home healthcare ladies.” - Lynda, West Auckland. |

What's New
Jimmy’s Story and Home HealthcareJimmy* is a regular at Te Kapu, Visionwest’s free community lunch. One day, Simon, our Chaplain, visited and found Jimmy wasn’t doing too well due to some mental health issues. Simon continued to call in regularly and, on one visit, found that Jimmy hadn’t eaten for five days. Simon took him to get some food. Simon also realised that Jimmy’s rental agent was trying to get Jimmy evicted because the home was quite often rather messy – Jimmy just couldn’t keep up with the housework. Simon and his team headed over and gave Jimmy’s home a good clean to ensure he could continue with his rental. Over time, Jimmy’s health worsened, however, and he eventually needed hospitalisation. When Jimmy was discharged, Simon went to see him only to discover he wasn’t at all well. When Simon asked if he was taking his medication, Jimmy responded that he’d been sent home with no medication and had no way of getting to the pharmacy to fill the prescription he’d been given. Simon took him to the chemist and to a café for lunch (once again, he’d not been eating). The awesome end to the story is that Jimmy’s health has now stabilised, partly due to the regular visits of Visionwest Home Healthcare support workers who helps with cleaning and meal preparation. He also has wellbeing checks three days a week from a social worker. Jimmy’s story is one of a person whose ability to remain independent was just hanging by a thread until a crisis hit and everything threatened to come crashing down. But, with the right in-home healthcare support from Visionwest, Jimmy was able to get past that crisis and feel safe staying in his own home. * We appreciate being able to tell Jimmy’s story but have changed his name for privacy reasons.
