Service Description
| OUR TEAMS Our teams across the three practices include 24 doctors; one GP nurse practitioner; 25 nurses, four primary care assistants (PCAs), three radiographers, and 20 administration staff, including the senior leadership team. The teams works with the wider multi-disciplinary team to provide an extensive range of primary healthcare services to meet your healthcare needs. These include physiotherapy, pharmacy, podiatry, cardiology and paediatric services at the Westown clinic; physiotherapy and maternity services at the Moturoa clinic, and podiatry at the Merrilands clinic. The Westown and Moturoa clinics both also have health improvement practitioners providing additional support and advice for our patients. URGENT CARE SERVICES AVAILABLE Carefirst offers an Urgent Care Clinic at Carefirst Westown Medical Centre. This service is open from 8:30am - 5pm, Monday to Friday and is available to both registered and non-registered patients. Please be aware of the following: - The Urgent Care Clinic is for medical issues and/or accidents that require urgent GP attention. - Patients that present with non-urgent issues may be redirected to a booked appointment. - The Urgent Care Clinic is not for repeat prescriptions, ACC or WINZ renewals, or ongoing medical issues. - An additional Urgent Care fee will apply. - In an emergency, please call 111. Warm welcome to the community for new Carefirst Bell Block Medical Centre After a significant period with no doctors available in the area, Bell Block’s three new GPs have been welcomed with open arms. Carefirst Bell Block Medical Centre opened its doors to patients on Tuesday 9 July, following a mihi whakatau (official welcome) to a crowd of more than 50 the night before, led by New Plymouth District Councillor and Puketapu hapÅ« representative, Dinnie Moeahu. Leigh Sampson, Carefirst chief executive said, “It was a special, multicultural welcome into the area that truly reflected both our workforce and the community we are so proud to serve.” Sharing facilities with Working for Health at 69 Corbett Road, the clinic is run by doctors Nelia Lourens, Geoff Putt and Amanda Brown. They are supported by administration manager Cynette Hickin, registered nurses Abby-Lynn Bruce and Shannon Hawkins, receptionist Rachel Doeg and clinical assistant Jacinta Taylor-Fidow.
