Many older people and their family feel overwhelmed when they consider the next place to live when they leave their family home. They are unsure of what is the best option for them. When speaking to family members and friends they discover there are many different view points on the best option. Advertisements add to the confusion. Then the prospect of shifting and all that that entails only makes them want to bury their head in the sand and do nothing.

As attentive listeners, we offer an unbiased ear to understand your concerns about accommodation and living arrangements. Our dedicated team craft an individualised plan for each older person based on their unique needs. Through actively listening we gather information so we can conduct comprehensive research to find the most suitable accommodation options for you. We reduce these options to a manageable number for your consideration. Our comprehensive written report compares our top recommendations and states the pros and cons for each of these. You maintain the control of making the decision about the accommodation that will best meet your needs for you now and in the future.

Our commitment lies in preserving the independence of older individuals. We collaborate with you to identify accommodation that perfectly aligns with your requirements. Trust us to navigate this important decision with you.

The best part of working with Robyn on my future plans was that I did not have to do it all at once. At the beginning I was still working and we planned for my retirement. She then helped me to get assessed so that I could get extra help to get showered. Then as I became unwell we worked on the next step into a rest home, which was my preference. We discussed all the options and that was my choice. I have felt supported by her the whole way through this process. She listens carefully and encourages you to go for what you want. I recommend her service absolutely. Polly Stuart

A good friend recommended me to contact Robyn after I lost my partner last year. Robyn is lovely, helpful and so easy to talk to. She is knowledgeable and had many ideas for me to help make the right decision for the next step in my life. I would not hesitate to recommend Robyn to anyone who is needing help deciding for their future. Wendy P

My husband and I are in our 80s and have decided it is time to go into a retirement village. Although I am fairly confident using a computer to research I needed an intermediary to help with the specific type of accommodation we require. I contacted Robyn at Transition Navigators after seeing their advertisement in the 'Where From Here' book. She researched a number of places, visited them and reported back to me in a prompt, easy to follow manner. In addition she arranged to come with us to visit and has been in touch several times since. I have no hesitation in recommending Transition Navigators to others. Rosena S

Meeting the needs of older people
Meeting the needs of older people
When Robyn was growing up her maternal grandmother lived with the family, alternating between the homes of her two daughters and their families. Now while many of her older family members and those of her friends are leading active lives, their accommodation needs have changed. Robyn founded Transition Navigators because she recognised that many older people and their families feel overwhelmed finding the best place for them to live that meets their changing needs.

Robyn is a trained teacher and counsellor who has spent several decades in the education sector. More recently, she returned to university to complete her Master of Health Sciences and more latterly her PhD. The focus of her research for these qualification has been the needs of older people. Robyn interviewed 35 older people about how they made decisions regarding shifting from their family home for her M.HlthSc. When she was offered a scholarship to do her PhD she continued her research with older people. Her PhD research measured the wellbeing of almost 600 older adults. The key finding from this research was that the older a person gets, the more their wellbeing increases.

Robyn is passionate about empowering older people to maintain their autonomy and have a good quality of life by working with them to find the best solution to their accommodation needs.
