Registered Nurse 40 Yes We have one full time Registered Nurse,an added advantage is our Manager/Licensee is also a Registered Nurse,and on call 24/7. Both have an affinity with the elderly are fully informed and competent working in this sector
Enrolled Nurse 40 Yes Currently Carol and Mary share the workload -one is always on duty at the weekends so our caregivers have good support available.

Hairdresser Yes Carol, our hairdresser is very colorful and flamboyant - she is really loved by our residents - Carol turns our 'garden lounge' into the local hairdressers salon every second Thursday afternoon .
Podiatrist Yes We have a six weekly visit from our Podiatrist.
Dietitian Yes All our food is cooked within our facility by our own 'Gordon Blue' chef expert - menus are checked by a Certified Dietitian
Accredited Visitors Yes Kathy, a trained Yoga and exercise instructor gives sessions at SBV on Monday mornings for one hour and Joe, a qualified Tai Chai instructor offers Tai Chai to our residents on Wed for 40 mins.Along with Glenfield Entertainers, Chris Bltyh and Joe Fingers

Female residents only No Our mix of resident is particularly important to us at SBV - we need to know that when family memebrs close the door after visiting they feel their loved one here is very safe

Outings Yes Residents go out on a touring bus fortnightly . They get off the bus for morning tea and a wander around. Residents are invited monthly to the local Church's for afternoon tea groups.We ensure connections still remain within the commumity
Rural Setting No We are located on Aucklands' sunny North Shore at Northcote Point..and often our more mobile Residents walk (supervised)to beautiful Shoal Bay Beach and take a picnic lunch and enjoy our beautiful surroundings
Semi-Secure No Shoal Bay Villa is a totally obscure secured unit with lovely gardens which cover the fences and gates so our residents do not feel 'imprisoned'

We offer a small,homely 26 bed specialist Dementia Care "Villa" type facility. Our Residents walk freely and safely in our recently redesigned gardens. All the staff at Shoal Bay provide the reassurrance and care our Residents need to live with dignity,safety and respect in our beautiful environment

Mall 1.00 km Birken Head (1km)and Glenfield Malls (5km)are in close proximity and are easily assessible via bus
Parks 0.25 km Beautiful Shoal Bay is an easy walk from "The Villa"and often our Caregivers take our Residents to The Bay for lunch or just a lovely walk in the sunshine
Library 1.00 km Both Birkenhead and Glenfield have Public Libraries...our Caregivers often take our Residents for Library visits when requested. We have a supply of large print books here at "The Villa" and we refresh our supply from the Library regularly
