Description
Regency Home and Hospital has long been established in Northcote and is positioned within easy access of the harbour bridge and surrounding North Shore areas.
Our focus is to provide a sense of community in a caring, consistent environment that reflects high standards.
Our aim is to provide homely comfort for all those who live with us and a friendly welcome for all who visit.

Registered Nurse Yes The Clinical Leader is a Registerd Nurse experienced in care of the elderly and the hospital Registered Nurse both provide clinical support and advice to the Team Leader of the Rest Home area who is also a Registered Nurse.

Physiotherapist Yes Qualified Physiotherapist contracted to attend Regency residents weekly. All new admissions assessed to establish their needs, treatment plan documented and carried out by the Physiotherapist, supported by Dementia unit staff, ensuring continuity of care
Occupational Therapist Yes Occupational Therapist works Monday-Friday providing professional input into specifc resident needs identified at an initial assessment, liaising with Physio on resident mobility needs and providing oversight and input into the daily activities programme
Own Social Worker No Services of a Social Worker can be accessed via Community Service if requested by resident or family
Activities Co-ordinator Yes Activities Coordinator manages the activities programme Monday-Friday, supported by the Occupational Therapist. Experienced in dementia care and able to provide activities that are appropriate and relevant to the residents
Hairdresser Yes Visits on a weekly basis, attending to residents in our hairdressing salon. Very experienced having provided a service to Regency residents over a long period. Is flexible if residents require hair done for special occasions

Dietitian Yes Contracted service by Qualified Dietitian available on request or when clinically indicated. Will visit and assess residents who require professional nutritional advice and support, provide treatment plan and assist staff to achieve set goals

Kaumatua Yes Active relationship with several Marae and services that can assist Regency if a resident requests a Kaumatua. Kaumatua provide training sessions for staff to increase cultural understanding

Under 65 yrs with Disability Yes Dementia unit can cater for the younger person with a variety of disabilities as additional staff rostered to this area. Dependant on funding being approved.
Day Care Yes We can provide day care. Private paying clients only (includes those who use Carer relief funding)
Whanau Room No If relatives wish to stay over we will do our best to make you comfortable at the bedside. Families are welcome to use staff facilities.

May Bring Own Furniture Yes Residents may appreciate having some personal furniture items in their room. This needs discussion with the Manager so furniture is appropriate to available space and the type of use it will be subjected to. Personal items such as photos are encouraged

Interests & Activities
Activity programme in place managed by Activities Coordinator and Occupational Therapist. All residents invited and encouraged to participate in activities.
Activities include: Big print books, Aromatherapy, Board games, Canine friends, Church service, Concerts, Cooking, Craft, regular Entertainers, Happy Hour, Housie, Music, Outings, Videos.

Care staff encourage residents to participate in activities each afternoon to minimise some behaviours that can occur at this time.

Details re Meals All meals cooked on site by Regency Food Service staff. Specific dietary needs or residents with cultural needs catered for. All meals eaten in dining room so good supervision can be given. Menu developed in liaison with qualified Dietitian.
Staffing Details Area managed by Team Leader, supported by Registered Nurse in hospital area, providing care and oversight/direction of Caregiving staff. Extra staff rostered to this area in line with higher care needs. Active staff training to maintain highly skilled staff. Dementia unit staff have Certificate in Dementia care
Associated Complexes Orongo Rest Home, situated at Campbell's Bay North Shore, provides Rest Home and Secure Dementia accomodation.
Fees Details/Fees Do Not Include Admission document clearly outlines services not included in fee. Manager can assist with any queries.
