Seadrome is a specialist Dementia facility, unique in that we only provide care for people who have a dementia, and we are committed to promoting excellence in dementia care.
Seadrome is in a pleasant north facing garden setting were residents are freely able to walk outside onto the deck and into the garden. Although a secure environment, the surroundings and access to the outside environment give sense of freedom.
The Dementia Unit has bedrooms for 25 people, we provide a range of activities which reflects the interests of the residents. Our activity programe 7 days a week, mornings and afternoons.
Meaningful activities are based on values and beliefs related to past roles, interests and routines.
Enjoyment is a measure of what makes activities meaningful and also reinforces a sense of identity and a sense of belonging.
Individual activities also reinforce identity and impact on emotional well-being. Our activities include art, blokes group, breakfast club, book club, craft, cooking and food tasting, cultural activities, dance, garden club, musical activities and groups. We find music and singing increases participation and social behaviour.morning walks, Tai Chi,massage, sensory stimulation.
