On a quiet, leafy street in Waipukurau, Woburn is a boutique care centre, offering a choice of standard and premium care rooms.

Your room is your own private space, so you can decorate it with your favourite pictures and ornaments. Standard rooms are large enough for a single bed, a chair and a wardrobe or chest of drawers. The cost of a standard room is included in the Care Services Fee set by the DHB. Premium rooms have additional features such as more space, an ensuite bathroom or outdoor access, but you’ll need to pay an extra amount per day to cover the cost of these premium features.

Woburn is ideally located two minutes from State Highway 2, making it easy for friends and family to pop by or get you out and about.

With shops, cafes and restaurants close by, and the local theatre and bowling club just around the corner, it’s easy for residents to remain connected to their local community.

Please accept our invitation to join us in the celebration of "Windys" long and beautiful life. We don't consider you as "staff" but as extended family.

Special Features
Special Features
Our modern, purpose-built dementia unit caters for the needs of 11 residents. Each resident has their own beautifully appointed room, and all have views onto gardens. Because this is a secure unit, the facility has secure walkways through gardened and paved areas that lead the resident back into the facility. The unit itself is set up in a circular layout, so that there are no "dead ends" to confuse residents. With modern shower and bath facilities, an internal courtyard and newly-made grassed area with outdoor furniture to sit and enjoy our sunny days, the dementia wing is an asset to Central Hawke's Bay.

At Woburn we try to help residents maintain their independence for as long as possible, especially if they are physically able to be directed in such activities as making their own bed, keeping their room tidy, or doing any small chores that they may want to do, such as helping to lay or clear the tables.

Interests & Activities
Interests & Activities
We have an active diversional therapy program with activities specifically designed for dementia unit residents.

We encourage residents to join in the activities, such as crafts, music, reading and games.

We can also tailor activities to suit residents needs and abilities especially around 'Sundowning' time in the afternoons.

A special treat for the Wakelin Wing residents, and some rest home residents is a spa bath.
The Wakelin residents can enjoy a spa on any day whereas the Rest Home residents have to book in advance.

Wakelin Wing residents spend a lot of their time enjoying activities and friendships with the Rest Home residents during the week. They especially enjoy Fridays when family members join in and everyone has a wine, beer or soft drinks with snacks, accompanied by musical entertainment.
