At rest home level, the staff at Longwood in Riverton are able to care for up to 14 people and there is registered nurse coverage 24-hours a day.

Longwood's building was designed specifically to be an aged care facility.

This means it is on one level, there are no steps and all entrances for residents are wheel-chair accessible. You will also find that there are hand rails throughout the facility.

Hospital and dementia level care is also available at Longwood.

Longwood is part of the Oceania Group, a member of the New Zealand Aged Care Association.

Longwood was purpose built,in 1999 as a Facility to provide Long term Care for the Elderly.

Longwood is owned by the Oceania Group.

FACILITIES

Longwood Lifestyle Village (Stage 1 development)
is a beautiful new complex completed in July,1999.

It is a multi-purpose building situated beside the Main State Highway on the boundary edge of Riverton township.

It is built of Oamaru Stone,with large floor to ceiling windows in lounges that will capture not only the sun but the views of the peaceful surrounding countryside.

From each lounge area one can see a different perspective,
whether it be the sea,hills & mountains,estuary ,farmlands,the gardens just outside the windows ,all capturing the tranquil setting.

Paved areas outside each lounge provides a pleasant area for the Residents to enjoy the fresh country air. Outside furniture
& umbrellas allows you to relax in style.

In the centre of the complex is a courtyard with paving that will lead you on a stroll past the waterfall & the gardens taking a rest on the garden furniture or taking a spell in the shelter of the Gazebo.
This is a sunny yet safe area for you to enjoy the quiet outside

Bedroom windows are low enough for one to enjoy the views whilst in bed.

The entire facility is built on one level.There are no steps,all entrances for the Residents are wheel-chair accessible.

Hand rails are through out the facility.
Underfloor Heating.
Piped Music/Radio ,in the lounges, can be isolated to suit our Residents needs.

Details re Meals We have a four weekly Summer/Winter Menu to ensure there is a variety of meals and this allows our kitchen team to include seasonal treats. Meals are tasty,well presented,wholesome and nutritious. Individual likes and dislikes are discussed with residents on their arrival. Special diets are provided for those who require them. Main meal is served at Mid-day and a lighter savoury meal in the evening. Home baking is served for morning and afternoon teas.
Staffing Details At Longwood , each person has a vital part to play in maintaing the compassionate care we provide. Registered Nurse coverage is 24 hour a day,together with Enrolled Nurses and Caregivers supporting and assisting with individualised care for our Residents. Recreational Assistants ensure that we are offered a wide range of activities to maintain our Residents at their optimum level of function. A qualified Physiotherapist visits regularly,assessing everyone and planning an individual physio plan which the Physio assistants then ensure is followed to prevent us from 'seizing up'. Housekeeping staff ensure we are spic and span. The Kitchen Team provide nutritious home cooked meals. Groundsman keeps our outside appearance ready for us to enjoy. We are proud to be part of the Aged Care Education programme encouraging our staff to participate in the specially designed education. Parks 5.00 km Riverton is a small rural town with beautiful harbour views. There is a also a lookout point and lighthouse a short drive away (5km).
Library 1.00 km Riverton Library is closeby. We also have a substantial library at our resthome.
