Kintala Lodge is the only Resthome in this City, SPECIALISING PURELY in the care of Elderly Patients suffering from ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE, or other DEMENTIA RELATED ILLNESS, OF ALL AGES, that presents with the syndrome of Dementia and its associated symptomatology of confusion, memory loss, agitation and a globally diminishing level of both mental and physical function.
Kintala Lodge also cares for the Under 65's who suffter from Dementia.
Kintala Lodge is set in a quiet, tranquil, peaceful atmosphere, in an inner city, tree lined environment, close to central City and all amenities. The homely Lockwood building has been designed to blend in with the local surrounding residential homes.
Our secure Rest Home environment has its own secure garden and lawn area, including an internal sunny courtyard, where Residents are free to wander, inside or outside, as they wish.
Our caring team at Kintala Lodge is dedicated purely to the welfare of our Dementia Residents, providing 24 hour care, 7 days per week, in this secure, friendly and homely environment.
We offer Long Term, Short Term, Dedicated Respite Bed, Emergency Respite, Day Care. Nice sunny rooms.

Registered Nurse 30 Yes related illness. The second Registered Nurse works various shifts in the afternoon on a fortnightly roster. This has added extra nursing care for our residents, having a Registered Nurse working on the afternoon shifts
Healthcare Assistants/Caregivers shifts Yes We have 11 Health Care Assistants working a Fortnightly Roster. They are all trained to work with Dementia Residents. They have completed and some are completing the Health Ed Trust NZ Inc, ACE Dementia Programme.
Physiotherapist 0.00 Yes On Doctors Referral.
Diversional Therapist 20 Yes Our Diversional Therapist is employed for her calm and paitent nature. This is an important quality when dealing with Residents who are becoming increasingly slow with regard to both mental and physical abilities.
Activities Co-ordinator 20 Yes Residents are kept active inside and outside the home, with a variety of activities. Such activities include bowls, bingo, newspaper and book reading, video sessions, piano player, art, care and craft, other music, exercises. Outings are organised.

We offer the same care for the Under 65's suffering from Dementia and focus on promoting their independence and quality of life.
