| Howick Manor is a nice Tudor style building set in a quiet residential street. The gardens and building are well maintained.
Quality care has been driven from the top. We were therefore the first health facility to achieve certification under the Health & Safety Act. We achieved this on the day legislation was passed. We encourage complaints. Your relative will never be disadvantaged by a complaint being made. Complaints draw our attention to the things we are not doing well and give us the opportunity to improve our service. By improving the service our business will grow. We therefore think of complaints in a very positive light and thank people for bringing them to our attention. |

| Details re Meals | We have home cooked meals by an excellent cook. We can say this because we send out four questionnaires a year and we always get 'ten out of ten'. If residents want a change of menu they only need to ask the Manager and cook and the request will be implemented. We also have a good track record of managing brittle diabetics. The dietitians recommendations are always implemented immediately. We monitor waste from the table after clients have been offered 'seconds'. Clients can therefore always have as much as they like. They will also have access to food at any other time. | |
| Staffing Details | We pride ourselves in our staff. They are motivated and interested in 'upskilling' and we ensure that each staff member undertakes the ACE training programme. Our Registered Nurses are accredited Assessors for Health Ed Trust NZ Inc. Staff are respectful and friendly. They are also very generous with their time which they often give freely to the service. We NEVER take this for-granted. A focus of care is to maintain the resident's dignity at all times. | |
