About Archer Thorrington Village
Nestled in the idyllic Beckenham Loop, overlooking the Port Hills
Often described and ‘green and leafy’ the gardens and surrounding at Archer Thorrington are best experienced than described. Set in the quiet and sheltered “Beckenham Loop’ area, the village and care home offers peace and tranquility in extensive park like surroundings while being just five minute walk to shops, cafes and restaurants and regular buses to central Christchurch.
Archer Thorrington offers the small village atmosphere with only 36 independent villas alongside the onsite care home and ideally suits residents looking for an established, friendly village feel while remaining close to the local community and primary health care facilities and doctors.
Each month, our staff organise a diverse range of activities and events for residents as part of our ‘Thrive Lifestyle & Events’ program.
Like Archer Beckenham Village, Thorrington Village & Care Home is only a short distance from essential healthcare facilities, including Christchurch Hospital, making it easier for residents to access medical tests and procedures when needed.
Support services, such as Nurse Maude, are also close by to provide care when required.

Mythbusting - Retirement Villages are a rip-off
Why it’s considered a worthwhile investment.
NOTE: The Retirement Villages Act 2003 (The Act) is designed to provide improved protection for people who 'buy' into a retirement village. If you intend to 'purchase' you must get independent legal advice before signing your occupation right agreement as required under The Act. Some Retirement Village type facilities are not required to register under The Act so different legal requirements apply. Please make sure you investigate fully.
In some villages there may be some Retirement Village units that have multiple uses e.g. a Serviced Apartment may also be used as a Residential Care Suite. The same unit may therefore show in several places on Eldernet.
