About Tainui Village
Tainui Village is a visionary Christian Charitable Trust and is administered by the Tainui Home Trust Board, that aims to provide quality residential and community services to older adults in a caring, spiritual and culturally sensitive manner.
Tainui has a sense of community built on membership, influence, integration fulfillment of needs and emotional connection. We believe in great aged care communities where new residents feel welcomed, safe and have a sense of ownership and belonging .When you talk to a Tainui resident, their happiness goes beyond resort style facilities. It is about the depth of relationships with their neighbours, staff and the wider community and a belief that others genuinely care about their well being. The people inside a Tainui community feel valued and that their ideas, suggestions and needs matter. Everyone listens and acts when concerns are raised, the deeply developed sense of togetherness means the community is committed to working in unity.
The Bigger Picture
Tainui has served the New Plymouth community for over 50years. it is a charitable non for profit organisation with strong ties to the local community with underpinning Christian values. Along with its three retirement villages, Tainui also has a Resthome with resthome and hospital level of care. it has 16 chalets that support over 65's with rental housing as part of its social consciousness and 3 apartments also based at Tainui. At Te Maru we have Ascot House that provides day care five days a week. it helps to support the prevention of social isolation and supports carers with respite during the day.

Mythbusting - Retirement Villages are a rip-off
Why it’s considered a worthwhile investment.
NOTE: The Retirement Villages Act 2003 (The Act) is designed to provide improved protection for people who 'buy' into a retirement village. If you intend to 'purchase' you must get independent legal advice before signing your occupation right agreement as required under The Act. Some Retirement Village type facilities are not required to register under The Act so different legal requirements apply. Please make sure you investigate fully.
In some villages there may be some Retirement Village units that have multiple uses e.g. a Serviced Apartment may also be used as a Residential Care Suite. The same unit may therefore show in several places on Eldernet.
