About Selwyn Village
SELWYN VILLAGE
From every angle, choosing independent retirement living at Selwyn Village makes perfect sense. You forgo the worries of security and home maintenance, so you have more time to enjoy life. There’s the unique natural setting of the village, the wealth of amenities and the new friends to share them with. Add to these the peace of mind knowing there’s on-site residential care, should the need eventuate, and the knowledge you’ll always have the enduring Christian commitment of The Selwyn Foundation behind you.
Selwyn Village is a 26 acre retirement jewel sitting on Auckland’s sparkling Waitemata Harbour. Located in desirable Point Chevalier, Selwyn Village provides a fantastic lifestyle in a historic setting. A palm-lined avenue, park-like grounds, well-tended flowerbeds and pretty shrubs complement the garden environment, and coastal walks lead to a sheltered swimming beach.
Close to the central city, but away from busy roads, the village offers maximum sun and privacy with magnificent harbour views.
LIVE LIFE AT YOUR OWN PACE
With many of your everyday tasks such as gardening and exterior maintenance taken care of, you’ll have time to indulge in an active, relaxed lifestyle and to make the most of the wide range of leisure facilities close at hand. There will be plenty to keep you busy, with outings and entertainment also arranged for your enjoyment.

THE SELWYN FOUNDATION
Selwyn Village is owned and managed by The Selwyn Foundation, an independent, faith-based New Zealand registered charity providing services to older people and their families. The Foundation has been leading the way in improving the quality of life of seniors since 1954. As pioneers of the retirement village model and of residential aged care in this country, we are uniquely experienced in providing care, independent retirement living and community outreach services for older adults.
Our Vision is Oranga Mātua | Oranga Tangata, Respectful Ageing for all, within communities that thrive. As a result of the ageing of New Zealand's population and the growing numbers of seniors who are vulnerable or in need, our work is more important than ever. With our Social Impact and Mission strategy as our foremost objective, the Foundation is focused on enabling support and outreach where there is hardship amongst seniors who live in the wider community – whether that be loneliness and social isolation, material/financial/emotional- or housing-related. Mythbusting - Retirement Villages are a rip-off
Why it’s considered a worthwhile investment.
NOTE: The Retirement Villages Act 2003 (The Act) is designed to provide improved protection for people who 'buy' into a retirement village. If you intend to 'purchase' you must get independent legal advice before signing your occupation right agreement as required under The Act. Some Retirement Village type facilities are not required to register under The Act so different legal requirements apply. Please make sure you investigate fully.
In some villages there may be some Retirement Village units that have multiple uses e.g. a Serviced Apartment may also be used as a Residential Care Suite. The same unit may therefore show in several places on Eldernet.
