About Lockerbie Retirement Village
Four years ago, a small village began to take shape on the edge of Lockerbie Estate. Quietly, homes went up, gardens were planted, and people started moving in. Today it's Morrinsville's first purpose-built retirement village, shaped by a simple idea: retirement should feel like the best chapter yet, not a compromise.
Lockerbie Village is 100% New Zealand owned and independently run. What sets it apart isn't just what's been built, but how it's run. Decisions are made by people who know the residents and care about the local community. The people responsible for this village live and work in the same world as the people who call it home. That means when something matters to a resident, it matters to the people running the place too. The weekly fee residents pay is also fixed from the day they sign up. For people living on a fixed income, that kind of certainty is genuinely rare, and valuable.
The homes are modern and thoughtfully designed for easy, comfortable living. Two bedroom duplexes with a single or double garage, floor areas from 118m2 to 144m2, a covered patio and garden space, ideal for anyone after something simple and low maintenance. Three bedroom standalone villas, with a double garage, range from 161m2 to 166m2 with spacious open plan living and dining, covered outdoor entertaining and low maintenance gardens, ideal for those wanting more space or somewhere for the grandkids to stay. Each one built to feel like home from the moment you arrive.
The Lodge sits at the heart of the village, a warm, well used gathering place where residents swim, read, share a drink, or simply spend time together. Inside you'll find a 12 metre heated pool, a gym, a library, a bar lounge, a theatre, a craft room and a large reception area, alongside an open kitchen and dining space that flows out to the alfresco seating and covered barbecue area. It's the connection you notice first though, the wave from a neighbour, the conversation that starts over a cuppa and goes on for an hour.
Lockerbie Village is on the edge of Morrinsville, close to Oak Eatery, Davies Park and the town centre, with an elevated, sunny outlook over rolling green pasture and the hills beyond. Only 30 minutes from Hamilton and an hour and a half from Auckland.
Kathryn Appleby, Village and Sales Manager, is the person to speak to. She answers every question and makes sure you leave with everything you need. She knows every resident by name. She'll get to know yours too. Request an information pack, or call Kathryn on 021 539 044.

Mythbusting - Retirement Villages are a rip-off
Why it’s considered a worthwhile investment.
NOTE: The Retirement Villages Act 2003 (The Act) is designed to provide improved protection for people who 'buy' into a retirement village. If you intend to 'purchase' you must get independent legal advice before signing your occupation right agreement as required under The Act. Some Retirement Village type facilities are not required to register under The Act so different legal requirements apply. Please make sure you investigate fully.
In some villages there may be some Retirement Village units that have multiple uses e.g. a Serviced Apartment may also be used as a Residential Care Suite. The same unit may therefore show in several places on Eldernet.
