Althorp Village is not just another retirement village. It's been designed to provide a unique blend of high-quality accommodation and resort-style facilities. Set amidst beautiful park-like surroundings and within easy reach of Tauranga, it has 210 residences plus an on-site motel for family and friends.
Our main facilities building, called "The Lodge", offers a lounge, library, theatre, indoor heated swimming pool, spas and gym, dining room, games room and a wide range of other activities for the active and not so active. Unlike many retirement villages, Althorp Village is privately owned. This makes for a more personal and friendly approach to running the village. However, residents also have the reassurance of knowing that the village meets all government regulations and there are Professional Managers and a Statutory Supervisor to oversee residents rights.

Mythbusting - Retirement Villages are a rip-off
Why it’s considered a worthwhile investment.
NOTE: The Retirement Villages Act 2003 (The Act) is designed to provide improved protection for people who 'buy' into a retirement village. If you intend to 'purchase' you must get independent legal advice before signing your occupation right agreement as required under The Act. Some Retirement Village type facilities are not required to register under The Act so different legal requirements apply. Please make sure you investigate fully.
In some villages there may be some Retirement Village units that have multiple uses e.g. a Serviced Apartment may also be used as a Residential Care Suite. The same unit may therefore show in several places on Eldernet.
