Hospital-level care at Eastcliffe—clinical expertise shaped by genuine relationships. Eastcliffe’s private hospital offers calm, personalised support for residents with complex medical or palliative needs. Our care is grounded in clinical excellence—and shaped by connection, responsiveness, and respect.

We follow our residents’ lead. That means noticing the small things, supporting daily choices, and engaging in ways that reflect each person’s energy, preferences, and wellbeing. Our team builds relationships that matter—especially with whānau and EPOA health representatives—ensuring shared understanding and continuity of care at every step.

Our senior nurses and caregivers are aged care specialists, deeply invested in ongoing training and mentorship. Many have been with Eastcliffe for years, offering consistent, thoughtful care and guidance through changing needs.

We work with each resident and their family to develop a tailored nursing plan—balancing medical goals with comfort, identity, and personal routine. This collaborative approach helps make transitions feel calm, dignified, and well supported.

Hospital rooms are spacious, private, and include an en-suite bathroom. Interiors are neutral and calming, ready to be personalised with items that feel familiar and comforting.

Social engagement is gently embedded in daily life, led by our Kia ora team. Residents can participate in activities like music therapy, physiotherapy, movies, or happy hour—or simply relax over a proper coffee with family in our café. Activities are offered, not expected—respecting each resident’s rhythm.

Meals are freshly prepared by our in-house chefs using seasonal, high-quality ingredients. We cater to all dietary needs, including softer meals for residents with difficulty eating. Whānau are welcome to join in for meals, celebrations, or quiet visits.

Our central location in Ōrākei—close to Parnell, Remuera, Mission Bay, St Heliers, Kohimarama, and the CBD—makes it easy for families to stay connected and for residents to remain in their trusted community.

Type Hours Per Week Status Details
Registered Nurse 24/7 Yes We have Registered Nurses on site 24 hours a day, seven days a week—providing consistent clinical expertise and compassionate care. As part of our wider clinical team, they ensure residents receive timely attention, professional oversight, and ongoing support for their health and wellbeing. This continuous presence offers reassurance, safety, and a strong foundation for responsive, person-centred care.
Nurse Practitioner Yes We’re proud to partner with Third Age Health to provide consistent, high-quality medical care for our residents. Through this arrangement, a dedicated General Practitioner visits regularly and is available for clinical support, ensuring continuity of care and timely medical attention. Third Age Health specialises in aged residential care, meaning their team understands the unique needs of older adults and works closely with our staff to support wellbeing, transitions, and responsive treatment.
Healthcare Assistants/Caregivers 24/7 Yes Our caregiver team is supported to ensure they have the time and space to provide meaningful care and connection. We prioritise staffing, rostering, and workload planning so caregivers can be present—not just task-focused—with each resident. Alongside this, our team is actively engaged in ongoing training and professional development, deepening their skills, confidence, and understanding of person-centred care.
Physiotherapist 16 Yes Our contracted physiotherapist plays an integral role in supporting residents’ physical wellbeing. On site two days a week, they deliver individualised exercise programmes and therapeutic care tailored to each resident’s needs, goals, and mobility. Their work promotes strength, comfort, and confidence—helping residents maintain independence and enjoy a more active daily life.
Occupational Therapist Negotiable
Social Worker (on site) 2 No We’re fortunate to have a minister available to speak with residents and their families, offering pastoral care and emotional support. While we don’t currently have a social worker on staff, our wider team is committed to supporting wellbeing, transitions, and open communication. We’re always happy to discuss any needs and work together to ensure residents and whānau feel heard and supported.
Diversional Therapist 40 No Our skilled Diversional Therapist curates a vibrant mix of individual and group activities designed to enrich daily life. From outings and music therapy to visiting entertainers and resident-favourite happy hours, the programme offers moments of joy, connection, and personal meaning. We take a whole-person approach—valuing each resident’s preferences, life story, and wellbeing—so that every activity feels purposeful, respectful, and tailored to who they are.
Activities Co-ordinator 30 Yes Our Activities Team plays a vital role in resident wellbeing—supporting and encouraging meaningful engagement every day. From morning tea to themed celebrations, gentle exercise to quiet conversation, their mahi ensures each resident has the opportunity to connect, participate, and find joy in their day. Whether it's a favourite hobby, spontaneous moment, or simply being part of something shared, the team helps create an environment where engagement feels natural, inclusive, and personal.
Hairdresser 8 Yes Our on-site hair salon, led by our long-standing hairdresser, offers the full range of services you’d expect from a high-end salon experience. Residents can enjoy professional hair care in a comfortable setting, complete with complimentary coffee or tea for a touch of luxury and relaxation.
Podiatrist Monthly Yes We understand the importance of quality foot care in supporting overall wellbeing. Our visiting podiatrist, contracted through the same trusted clinic as our physiotherapist, ensures residents’ feet are well cared for—comfortably and professionally. The connection between their team and ours enables seamless communication and continuity of care, reinforcing our commitment to holistic, coordinated health support.
Dietitian Negotiable Our menus are thoughtfully curated by our Executive Chef and reviewed by a contracted dietitian to ensure both flavour and nutritional balance. For residents with specific dietary needs, our team consults closely with the dietitian to provide tailored support. Importantly, our Chef engages directly with residents—listening to their preferences, feedback, and ideas—so that meals reflect both personal tastes and our shared commitment to wellbeing.
Accredited Visitors Yes Each week, our residents enjoy visits from our dedicated Pet Therapy team—bringing comfort, connection, and a whole lot of tail-wagging happiness. These gentle companions offer more than cuddles: they spark conversation, lift moods, and foster a sense of calm and companionship. For many residents, it’s a favorite part of the week, where memories, smiles, and quiet moments of joy unfold naturally.
Kaumatua Negotiable Eastcliffe is proudly owned by Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei, and we are committed to upholding their values in all aspects of our care and community. This alignment is reflected in our everyday practices—from how we welcome and support residents, to the way we honour manaakitanga, whanaungatanga, and our shared responsibility for wellbeing.
Chaplain/Spiritual Advisor Negotiable We actively support our residents' spiritual wellbeing as part of our holistic approach to care. Each Friday, we hold an on-site church service—creating space for reflection, connection, and comfort. This regular gathering offers a familiar rhythm and sense of belonging, while honoring each resident’s values and beliefs.
Other Personnel Negotiable A 24/7 community deserves seamless, round-the-clock support. At Eastcliffe, reception is staffed daily by our well-loved reception team—familiar faces who offer a warm welcome and help everything run smoothly. At night, our trusted security team ensures safety, continuity, and peace of mind. A full management team oversees operations with care, while maintenance, gardening, cleaning, and laundry staff work quietly behind the scenes to keep our spaces thriving. Residents also have access to personal grooming and self-care services from our professional beautician, who visits monthly. It’s a quiet choreography of care—each team playing their part in making Eastcliffe feel safe, engaged, and distinctly home.

Respite, Carer Support or other Short Stay Status Details
Respite Yes Short-stay care with honest expectations. Eastcliffe offers respite and palliative stays for a minimum of seven days, either privately or, where eligible, through subsidy. While placements can’t be pre-booked, we’re always happy to discuss availability. Although we love providing this kind of support, shorter stays simply don’t allow for the tailored onboarding and relationship-building we offer to long-term residents. As such, care during these visits is more generalised, but always safe, respectful, and professional. When space allows, we work closely with hospice teams to ensure care is aligned and compassionate. Our goal is to provide comfort and calm—even in brief moments—for residents and whānau alike.
