One would have to be worried about the owner

Provider response:

The owner has apologised sincerely and unreservedly to all Lady Wigram residents.

Since the article was posted in The Star on the 19th October we have been overwhelmed with the support from all the residents including those who were involved in the ordeal last week. We were presented a letter, which was signed from all the residents on the 24th October which they also presented to The Star.
“Lady Wigram Retirement Village would like to record through your paper our support to John Tooby who through his enterprises has provided us with a comfortable home situated in landscaped grounds”. “We the undersigned once again would like to support Mr Tooby in his actions and for providing us a lovely home for our retirement”.

We are very proud of our facility at Lady Wigram Retirement Village and we are now looking forward to our Club House opening mid December, as are the residents.

Golden Healthcare Group

Christchurch’s Golden Healthcare Group, New Zealand’s largest privately owned, family healthcare business, has officially opened its latest $80m architecturally designed Lady Wigram Retirement Village.

Our villas are single storey, 106m2 with two bedrooms and full garaging.

At Lady Wigram Retirement Village you can retain your independence yet be safe and secure in the village setting. You can be confident that your new home is state-of-the- art. Its comfort, warmth and sheer style, will be unparalleled.

Construction is almost complete for our Club House Community Centre which will include a swimming pool, spa pool, theatre, gym, community centre, hairdressing salon and communal lounge.
"Our move into Lady Wigram Retirement Village, was to future proof ourselves in case of further health issues. We never expected to enjoy it as much as we do. We live a completely independent lifestyle but with like-minded residents in the village we have made lots of new friends. The villas are very luxuriously appointed which is an added bonus".
November 2016

"When we moved into Lady Wigram Retirement Village 10 months ago, it was the best decision we have made. The villa's are light and sunny also warm. The residents all get on well together which is nice. We have "The Hanger" as a meeting place where different events take place".
October 2016

"What a difference my life is now, never did I think I would be happy to sit back and not have to worry about gardening and mowing lawns, cleaning windows and be on my own".

NOTE: The Retirement Villages Act 2003 (The Act) is designed to provide improved protection for people who ‘buy’ into a retirement village. If you intend to ‘purchase’ you must get independent legal advice before signing your occupation right agreement as required under The Act. Some Retirement Village type facilities are not required to register under The Act so different legal requirements apply. Please make sure you investigate fully.

In some villages there may be some Retirement Village units that have multiple uses e.g. a Serviced Apartment may also be used as a Residential Care Suite. The same unit may therefore show in several places on Eldernet.
