Interests & activities

At Epsom Village, community life centres around thoughtfully designed spaces that encourage relaxation, connection and enjoyment.
The heated swimming pool, barbecue area and beautifully tended gardens create an inviting outdoor setting — perfect for a peaceful morning swim, a leisurely stroll among the greenery, or a long lunch in the sunshine. Beneath the majestic oak tree, residents gather around shaded tables for friendly games of cornhole, casual catch-ups, outdoor concerts and garden parties — moments that bring the village to life.

The Wellness Centre supports everyday wellbeing, with weekly hairdressing and beauty appointments conveniently available within the village.

Beyond the outdoor spaces, a vibrant calendar of social and cultural activities brings residents together throughout the week.

From movie afternoons and guest speakers to book club, craft sessions, quiz nights and relaxed games of cards, there is something to suit every interest. Shared dining occasions — from pot-luck dinners and barbecues to elegant afternoon teas — create natural opportunities to connect, share stories and form lasting friendships.

Practical support is seamlessly woven into everyday life, with onsite gardeners and maintenance staff, village and shopping buses, organised day trips and access to a complimentary electric vehicle. With essential services, cafés and public transport all within easy walking distance, life at Epsom Village is both engaging and wonderfully convenient.

Residents Say It Best

”I live in a gorgeous, north-facing apartment with a sunny patio — and my cat and I are both very happy here.

The village’s location is wonderfully central, making it easy to get anywhere around the city. Regular buses are close by, and Mt Eden, Cornwall Park and Newmarket are all within walking distance. As someone who enjoys walking, it’s perfect for me.

I have lovely neighbours and have made some wonderful friends here. There are plenty of activities to join in with if you choose, and the staff are all fantastic.

Overall, I truly couldn’t be happier.”

Karen

”I love living here in my apartment, surrounded by the beautiful grounds that encircle the village. There is a wonderful social atmosphere, and I’ve made many new friends. The staff are consistently kind and understanding, which makes such a difference.

I would happily recommend the village to others.”

Leonie

”I chose Epsom Village for its exceptional location — close to the Lido Cinema, Epsom Library and Farro for enjoyable shopping, with easy access to the airport for visiting family.

I love the beautiful grounds, including my own peaceful courtyard garden. I’ve made good friends here and particularly enjoy my very competitive Friday morning mahjong games. The swimming pool is a real highlight for me, and I try to use it every day during the summer months.

Each Sunday I meet friends for brunch, and I can’t help feeling quietly satisfied as they discuss rate rises, water charges, garden maintenance and household repairs — while I reflect on how fortunate I am to have all those aspects of life taken care of.

The staff at the village are unfailingly friendly and helpful, which I truly appreciate.”

Dianne

”I moved to Epsom Village when I retired from the RNZN at age 70, having spent 26 years as Personal Assistant to the Rear Admiral. I am now 83 and still thoroughly enjoying village life.

I was fortunate to secure an apartment in the Mt Hobson block, overlooking a large grassed area and beautiful gardens. As the end apartment, it is wonderfully quiet. I love gardening, and with the help of our gardener, I’ve even expanded my garden this year.

Those of us on the lower level have become good friends and are always there to support one another.

I lead a busy and fulfilling life, with young grandchildren who love to visit, as well as my passion for music. I’m often out at choir practices or playing the piano and organ for special occasions. I also enjoy playing the piano here in the village when needed and arranging flowers for the vestibule or special village dinners — particularly at this festive time of year.”
