Dunblane Rest Home and Village is a popular retirement village on a site that contains award winning gardens- Dunblane having won 1st place in the Poverty Bay Horticultural Society’s awards for best Rest Home and Village Gardens.

Residents can enjoy sunny courtyards and the convenience of being close to a main shopping area and library. There is a bus stop right at the main entrance.

This is also the only location north of the Gisborne CBD to offer all 3 levels of care: rest home, hospital and dementia care.

Family are encouraged to be involved and participate in the care of their family member

'I went to all the places in Gisborne and just loved Dunblane - I decided it was the place for me on the spot! The staff are lovely, helpful and polite. What I like is the friendliness - everyone is on the same level, we're like sisters. My youngest son told me when I moved in "Mum I am so happy for you to be here" It's the best decision I ever made. - Rae Comperthwaite, Dunblane Village Resident

Ted and I would like to say to you all, “thank you for being so warm and friendly”. It has been a massive change of venue for us and we were dreading having to do it but now we are smiling. The staff are warm and helpful, the neighbours have made us feel welcome. We have found the village an exciting new place to view and look forward to discovering new facets of it as we settle in. We are now on our way to visit Rotorua (not something planned a week ago) Thank you all for caring about us we really appreciate it. Ted and Faye.

It's absolutely wonderful! We're both still busy, but enjoy the friendliness and safety of being part of the village . Bill needed some medical attention - I pressed the button and nurses came running. Financially it's excellent, we get the pension but can live life with quality. I love hearing the mower going knowing I don't have to do it! They allowed us to bring our dog so she can live out her life with us. No one is overwhelming, you have your autonomy but we all help each other out. - Nona & Bill, Dunblane Village Residents

NOTE: The Retirement Villages Act 2003 (The Act) is designed to provide improved protection for people who ‘buy’ into a retirement village. If you intend to ‘purchase’ you must get independent legal advice before signing your occupation right agreement as required under The Act. Some Retirement Village type facilities are not required to register under The Act so different legal requirements apply. Please make sure you investigate fully.

In some villages there may be some Retirement Village units that have multiple uses e.g. a Serviced Apartment may also be used as a Residential Care Suite. The same unit may therefore show in several places on Eldernet.
