Description
Welcome to Chatswood Retirement Village. In late 2014 we opened our brand new Hospital wing, new kitchen, laundry, lounge and Retirement Village facilities. All of which are built with exceptional quality and design. We also offer rest home level care in the original villa and existing buildings on site.

Our village manager, Kyla Hurley, heads a team of talented, skilled and experienced senior management alongside staff committed to delivering exceptional care . Kyla comes from a strong background of managing residential care facilities around New Zealand.

Residents are encouraged to maintain independence, creativity and individuality at Chatswood which is expressed through their surroundings and personal choice. We believe that each resident is a unique individual who is part of a family and community. Age is part of the life continuum.

Residents from all parts of the facility enjoy regular outings in the Chatswood Van which you may have seen out and about, especially with the warmer weather becoming more frequent. Make sure to give us a wave and say hello when you see us around!

Further new building developments currently in progress, include an additional 10 brand new apartments (1 and 2 bedroomed), 2x studios and 9x large care suites, available in mid 2017. Residents will be able to receive up to full hospital/palliative level care in their own personal care suite.

We are very excited about the new changes here at Chatswood and encourage you to come and have a look around our facility located in Opawa, Christchurch.

NOTE: The Retirement Villages Act 2003 (The Act) is designed to provide improved protection for people who ‘buy’ into a retirement village. If you intend to ‘purchase’ you must get independent legal advice before signing your occupation right agreement as required under The Act. Some Retirement Village type facilities are not required to register under The Act so different legal requirements apply. Please make sure you investigate fully.

In some villages there may be some Retirement Village units that have multiple uses e.g. a Serviced Apartment may also be used as a Residential Care Suite. The same unit may therefore show in several places on Eldernet. The DHB Shared Services website provides additional information about this service.
