Welcome to Archer Villages, your guide to independent retirement living. This brochure offers a comprehensive look into the operations and frequently asked questions about Archer Villages & Care Homes, a long-standing provider of retirement and aged care services across Canterbury, West Coast, and the wider South Island Discover how Archer Villages fosters a sense of belonging where residents are "almost family" and receive professional, compassionate care. |
Nestled in the heart of the Beckenham shopping precinct, near the picturesque hills and in a prime central location, Archer Beckenham Village offers a welcoming and convenient lifestyle. Situated adjacent to the Beckenham shopping center, residents have easy access to a medical center, pharmacy, cafés, and just a short stroll to the local supermarket and library. Many residents choose Archer Beckenham for the vibrant, “close to the heart of the village” atmosphere that makes the area so special.
Public buses run directly outside the main gates, providing convenient transport to the city and back with stops right at the village gates. Additionally, Archer Beckenham Care Home is only a short distance from essential healthcare facilities, including Christchurch Hospital, making it easier for residents to access medical tests and procedures when needed. Support services, such as Nurse Maude, are also close by to provide care when required.
Archer Beckenham offers the small village atmosphere with only 30 independent villas alongside the onsite care home and ideally suits residents looking for an established, friendly village feel while remaining close to the local community and primary health care facilities and doctors.
Archer Beckenham offers peace of mind and enjoyable daily living.
Each month, our staff organise a diverse range of activities and events for residents as part of our ‘THRIVE Lifestyle & Events’ program.
Many of these gatherings take place at the Archer Leisure Centre, complete with its spa, swimming pool, library, and café.
Our beautifully maintained gardens provide a relaxing view and welcoming walk for residents wishing to make the most of a sunny day and fresh air.

NOTE: The Retirement Villages Act 2003 (The Act) is designed to provide improved protection for people who ‘buy’ into a retirement village. If you intend to ‘purchase’ you must get independent legal advice before signing your occupation right agreement as required under The Act. Some Retirement Village type facilities are not required to register under The Act so different legal requirements apply. Please make sure you investigate fully.
In some villages there may be some Retirement Village units that have multiple uses e.g. a Serviced Apartment may also be used as a Residential Care Suite. The same unit may therefore show in several places on Eldernet.
