Enliven’s Abingdon Village offers a wonderful lifestyle opportunity in the heart of St John’s Hill. Abingdon’s quaint one-bedroom villas are set on picturesque grounds, nestled amongst native trees and beautiful sunny gardens overlooking the Whanganui township.

The 14 villas at Abingdon Village surround the historic Abingdon House, designed by famous Kiwi architect James Walter Chapman-Taylor. The house is now the village’s community centre and includes a shared dining room, shared lounges and a bedroom for guests. There are many social occasions and friendly card games enjoyed here!

Enliven’s Abingdon Village provides independent living, but with the security of knowing our friendly team is never far away if you need them. The villas of Abingdon have been designed and constructed to provide comfortable, affordable and quality retirement living. On sale, each villa is renovated to a high standard.

As a resident of Enliven’s Abingdon Village you are, of course, free to do whatever you like, when you like. But you can be confident that our friendly team is on hand to offer all the support and security you need.

At Enliven, we believe retirement is not about slowing down (unless you want to!); it’s about having the time to do the things you enjoy most. Enliven’s Abingdon Retirement Village has been designed to let you make the most of your retirement years.

If there comes a time that you or your spouse needs extra support, as a resident of an Enliven retirement village you’ll be given preferential entry into Enliven’s rest homes. Enliven has warm, welcoming elder-centred communities in Wellington, Johnsonville, Tawa, Lower Hutt, Wairarapa, Levin, Palmerston North, Feilding, Whanganui and New Plymouth.

In 2017 New Zealanders voted Enliven New Zealand’s Most Trusted in Aged Care and Retirement Villages. The accolade comes from the independent 2017 Reader’s Digest Most Trusted Brand Survey completed by Roy Morgan Research. Respondents highlighted the not-for-profit vales, genuine care, and the honest and high quality aged care and retirement services and support.

The icing on the cake for the residents of Enliven’s Abingdon Village is knowing that by purchasing a villa, they’re investing in the future. As a not-for-profit organisation, all the proceeds from the sale of Enliven’s retirement villas and apartments are invested back into Enliven facilities, or into social services for vulnerable children and families provided by Family Works, which is also part of Presbyterian Support Central.

NOTE: The Retirement Villages Act 2003 (The Act) is designed to provide improved protection for people who ‘buy’ into a retirement village. If you intend to ‘purchase’ you must get independent legal advice before signing your occupation right agreement as required under The Act. Some Retirement Village type facilities are not required to register under The Act so different legal requirements apply. Please make sure you investigate fully.

In some villages there may be some Retirement Village units that have multiple uses e.g. a Serviced Apartment may also be used as a Residential Care Suite. The same unit may therefore show in several places on Eldernet.
