Welcome to Annaliese Haven. Our passion is to provide quality care within a caring family focused environment. Our passionate staff are chosen for their holisitc focus and empathy in helping others.
We encourage residents to express their individuality and take pride in assisting them to achieve improved quality of life while feeling secure in the knowledge their needs are met. The quality of our care is reflected in our wonderful reputation present within the community. Its not all about the bells and whistles. Annaliese Haven provides a range of rooms with both Sunny and sheltered aspects with access to several courtyards and lovely gardens. We pride ourselves on a family focused environment, staffed by experienced Registered Nurses 7 days a week to ensure quality care and qualified caring staff passionate about what they do. Registered Nurse 160 Yes There are 5 RN's including a Clinical Nurse Manager that work over the 7 days providing AM and PM cover, and after hours on call between 11pm and 7am. Our team boasts almost 90 years combined experience enabling high level rest home and dementia care.
Healthcare Assistants/Caregivers Yes Our care staff are passionate and dedicated to aged care, ensuring a family focused facility 100% person centered. All care staff undertake career force training for specialised dementia care and many come with a lifetime of knowledge and experience.
Physiotherapist Yes Physiotherapy is available through community liaison as required and accessible through the GP
Occupational Therapist Yes Occupational therapy is available as required through GP referal
Own Social Worker No Social Workers are available for liaison as needed through Older Persons Health if required
Diversional Therapist 40 Yes Annaliese Haven boasts 2 Fully Qualified Diversional Therapists and 3 Activities Co-ordinators Their holistic focus ensures individual needs are met and thinking outside the square ensures enhanced quality of life for all our residents.
Activities Co-ordinator 32 Yes We are passionate about meaningful activities and have developed a strong team including 3 Activities Co-ordinators working alongside qualified diversional therapists trained in specialist dementia care.
Hairdresser Yes Annaliese Haven has its own hair salon and a dedicated stylist who comes in every Saturday. Bookings are able to be made throughout the week and for those who wish to continue accessing independent services outside the home this is also encouraged.
Podiatrist Yes Specialist podiatry is available every 3 weeks in the home for all residents unless otherwise requested by individuals. This is an additional cost.
Dietitian Yes A Registered dietician oversees our Summer and Winter menus along with auditing food services every year. We have a qualified chef who provides nutritious and flavorsome home style meals that are interesting, attractive and good for you.
Kaumatua Yes Additional cultural support is available for all ethnicity regardless of origin. Translation services can be accessed for those with language barriers
Chaplain/Spiritual Advisor Yes Church Services are provided for all denominations on a weekly rotational basis. All residents are free to attend of their own accord and Cultural and Spiritual needs are fulfilled as per individual requirements
Other Personnel Yes We have two wonderful receptionists to greet you when you arrive at Annaliese during weekday business hours, a myriad of housekeeping, laundry, maintenance and volunteer staff who make up our family. Everyone is here with a common goal of excellent care.

Respite Yes When we have vacancies in the rest home. We do not have a dedicated bed so are not able to take advanced bookings
Respite Yes Respite care is available for Dementia Care and depending on occupancy we provide Rest Home respite if able. Many of our long term respite residents have become permanant.

Alcohol Permitted Yes Annaliese Haven has a happy hour every week in the rest home and monthly in dementia. Alcohol is restricted where GP advises due to medication but this is on an individual basis.
Pets In Residence Yes Pets are invited to visit. At this point Pets are not accepted within the dementia facility however this may be negotiable in the Rest Home but is dependent on several factors.

Policy for management of challenging behaviour Yes Challenging behaviour is managed in accordance with MOH guidelines and family are consulted regarding any issues relating to these. We have a wonderful reputation for being able to holistically manage those unable to be managed elsewhere.
Confused Residents Yes We have two secure dementia units as well as rest home. Many of our resthome residents love to interact with our dementia residents. The dementia facilities are blessed with a large outdoor space with continuous paths to give a sense of freedom.
Lounges/seating areas Yes Each unit has its own lounge and there are several small 'nook's for getting away and having a bit of one on one
Outings Yes Van outings are provided twice weekly as part of our Activities and Diversional Therapy programme. Our facility has an open door policy and residents in all units are free to come and go with family or independently (in resthome) as they desire.
Rural Setting Yes Annaliese lays on the edge of rural north canterbury and is a quiet space away from the hustle and bustle
Smokers Room No Smoking is permitted by residents only in units where this has been a lifelong habit. We do not believe in forced cessation. An outdoor courtyard is available in the dementia units and this is managed by staff for safety where a resident wishes to smoke.

Special Features
Special Features
We enjoy the informality and usual 'comings and goings' of a family home. We function on an 'open door' policy. Residents from all units are encouraged to come and go as they desire with friends and family. We are always happy for you to join us for Happy Hour or anything that is happening especially during entertainment times...there is always something happening.

Our activity programme is large and varied. Below is an example of what we do:

Age Concern, Alzheimer's Society, Art, Big print books, Bingo, Board games, Bowls, Canine friends, Cards, Craft, school children entertaining, Church, Concerts, Cooking, Dancing, Entertainers each week and on special occasions,, Exercises, Games, Gardening, Happy Hour, Indoor Games, Jigsaw, Library, Minibus, Movies, Music, Newspaper reading, Organ, Outings, Pastoral care, Picnic, Quizzes, Reading, RSA, Shopping, Singing, Swimming, Videos

We have a mini bus and we have found one of the simplest joys is just going for a drive through familiar streets and villages and having an ice cream by the sea. Van outings are twice weekly and alternated between rest home and dementia units

We have four large raised vegetable gardens and can grow our own tomatoes, and herbs in pots along with anything else our residents wish to grow. Gardening is free to anyone who chooses to partake. many of our residents love to prune the roses.

A mens shed is available on site for those who wish to tinker with an engine or sand some wood, the opportunities are only limited by your imagination

The style of the home makes for easy movement and integration of activities and our visitors and families are welcome to share lunch or a cup of tea at any time

Details re Meals These days many people require modified dietary requirements and we are happy to accommodate individual needs as required.
Staffing Details Staffing is above MOH requirements
Fees Details/Fees Do Not Include We have a house doctor Dr Alex Skingle who is based out of Kaiapoi Medical Centre. He attends weekly and is available throughout the week as required. GP visits are included when you designate the house doctor as your GP. IF you choose to remain under your own independent GP you will incur additional charges. Podiatry and Hairdressing is additional. Toiletries may be obtained through the facility and charged to your comfort account if you choose. Further specifics are available upon request.
