Visitors as usual (but not if you're unwell or recently returned from overseas)
Holmdene is an integral part of the Balclutha township. It's a Presbyterian Support Otago Enliven home where locals love to work and volunteer, supporting residents to be as independent as possible.

There's a shed where you can continue with woodwork projects, raised gardens where your gardening knowledge will be put to good use, and loyal staff around to help you achieve those things that are important in your life.

You will find life at Holmdene makes for happier, healthier living, no matter what your age. A sense of community; friends, family and whanau; giving and receiving; making decisions for yourself; and most of all, practical support when you need it.

Holmdene carries Ministry of Health four-year certification - confirming this popular home provides the very best care to residents.

Give Elmer Rodriguez, Manager of Holmdene a call on 03 418 1468 and come as see for yourself why an Enliven home is the right choice when seeking rest home and hospital care in Balclutha.

Special Features
Special Features
The exceedingly high standard of meals is always commented on by Hilmdene residents and visitors alike, as is the high standard of care provided by a stable, dedicated staff.
Staffing levels are at the higher end for the sector, and a large percentage of caregivers have formal industry qualifications. A high level of physiotherapy input is also put in place, with a focus on maintaining or improving current mobility.

Holmdene is purpose-built and maintained to a high level, and residents have plenty of room in which to enjoy the wide range of activities continually available to them.

Community Meals on Wheels are provided from Holmdene which is linked physically to the Clutha Health First hospital.

Interests & Activities
Interests & Activities
Maintaining regular sporting and community activity our individual residents had before moving to Holmdene, is encouraged. We believe residents should maintain the connection they had with their family, friends and community, and will do all we can to ensure those connections are kept.

In-house, we have an extensive activities programme that includes exercise, quiz sessions, newspaper readings, guest speakers and entertainers, and Happy Hour is a very popular event.

There is great emphasis on outings, undertaken in comfortable vans, with events ranging from concerts to garden visits.

Some residents prefer to undertake hobbies and interests privately, or on a one-to-one basis, and we are happy to accommodate them.
