When it comes to everyday life, Riverside makes it easy with rest home, hospital, day care, respite, dementia and palliative care. The well-appointed rooms all look out onto beautiful rural views and come complete with a 24-hour call system and WiFi.

Light, bright and peaceful, Riverside is surrounded by farmland in rural New Plymouth, just a hop, skip and jump from the Merrilands shopping centre where you’ll find all the essentials such as a pharmacy. Just a short drive from there and you’re in the New Plymouth city centre.

We offer everything from hairdressing to physiotherapy, podiatry, a scooter bay and SKY TV. We have a range of recreational activities including board games, happy hour, gardening, crafts, indoor bowls and a croquet lawn. Our facility van is also always on hand for outings.

Kaumatua Yes We endeavour to assist residents to maintain any cultural ties they may have in the community before coming to Riverside.
Chaplain/Spiritual Advisor Yes Our residents enjoy weekly visits if they wish to access this service. Various religious groups can be arranged to visit to provide services for all of our residents.
Other Personnel Yes Allied Health Professionals and a GP visit regularly, the latter of which is available on call. Riverside also offers has a range of services available, such as Appointment Transportation, Housekeeping Service, Laundry Service, Medication Administration, Medication Delivery, and Pharmacy Services.

Single Rooms Yes Our rooms are spacious and each has a lovely outlook. Recently refurbished, our home provides a lovely homely feel and is a popular choice. Rooms are equipped with a Nurse Call System, a personal heater, and personal Freeview and Sky TV access.

Special Features
Riverside Lifecare Complex offers all the benefits of a care facility, including entertainment, activities and companionship. The site provides a scooter bay, paraplegic toilets, and separate dining room and lounge facilities. Not only that, but we boast a croquet lawn for our residents to enjoy. The facility is fitted with accessibility ramps and safety grab rails, wide corridors, and smoke detectors with water sprinklers.

Located in a peaceful situation surrounded by farmland, everything about Riverside home is comfortable and homely. We have a number of large rooms with ensuites and other rooms with doors opening onto courtyards. Our lounge areas have a magnificent view of the Waiwhakaiho river. We have a number of internal courtyards, beautifully sheltered for enjoying outdoor relaxation.

Interests & Activities
Riverside has an extensive repertoire of activities and events, aimed at keeping the body and mind stimulated. Our Activity Coordinators focus on designing programmes for each individual at all levels of disability, to promote independence and creative expression.

Large print books and Blind Foundation listening books form part of our library service and we also rent DVDs or videos. Entertainers form a regular part of our programme. A piano and Sky TV is also available in the main lounges.

Here are just some of the activities and interests of residents which arise on a regular basis:

Board Games, Cooking, Crafts, Crosswords & Quizzes, Dancing, Gardening, Happy Hour, Indoor Bowls, Movies, Music, Newspaper Reading, Parties.

There is also active involvement in community events. Outings are an ongoing part of the activities programme and often include stopping somewhere for coffee.
