My name is John and my wife’s name is Maryla. We have been together for just over 50 years and married for 48 of those years. A few years ago Maryla developed Alzheimers and she deteriorated relatively quickly. It became increasingly harder to look after her at home. The time came when she needed to be admitted to a rest home. I did what research I could asking doctors, friends and people I knew who had friends or family members in the same situation. I came to the conclusion that if at all possible Millvale Lodge Lindale would be the best place for Maryla. I went to Millvale to meet some of the staff and looked at the facilities. I was very impressed. There was a vacancy so Maryla was eventually taken in as a resident. This turned out to be so fortunate for both of us. She has now been a resident there for almost a year and right from the start she became settled very quickly thanks to the wonderful staff. The rooms are very comfortable and the whole place is well laid out and very comfortable for Maryla to live in. But the most important thing about Millvale is the staff. They are all absolutely amazing. They are all so caring and capable and they make Millvale the best possible place for my partner. It was so hard letting someone else take care of her after being together so long. They genuinely care for Maryla in so many ways that go above and beyond just simple nursing care. Mayla is taken for walks and rides to different places. There is entertainment and activities if she wants to enjoy them. Maryla is always nicely dressed and even her make up and hair are done. I visit her every day and every single day she tells me how happy she is and how lovely the staff are and how well they look after her. Not only do they care about Maryla they are always asking me how I am coping with life as it is for us now. I am contacted immediately if there is any incident or change in Maryla. They always keep me informed of her medical requirements and discuss any changes that need to be made. The staff at Millvale have created a loving, caring and safe environment for all the residents who live there. To just say thank you to them for how they have looked after both of us seems so inadequate. Maryla and I will always be so grateful for everything that you do. Thank you. John Button 9th March 2019 Hi Vicky My Dad Patrick (Pat) O'Connor passed away at Millvale Lodge, Lindale September 3rd. I spoke to Rhea and Roxanne about what we as a family could do for the staff and they said that a letter to you and to the staff would be much appreciated. Dad moved to Millvale in April 2014 so was one of the original residents shortly after it opened. Words cannot express our appreciation at how well Dad was looked after for over 3 years. He was treated like family by the staff to the point they all called him 'Daddy'. Dad was made as comfortable as possible during his final days and Kathryn, Gavin and I were made to feel very welcome. There are too many names to mention individually but I would like to say a special thanks to Irish who was the nurse on duty when Dad passed. For me personally, Millvale became a bit like a second home. I will miss all the friendly smiles of your staff. They are a great credit to your organisation. We are so grateful for the wonderful care and love given to our Mum, Leoné, during her time at Millvale Lodge. During her illness we know that she received the best possible care and was always shown kindness and consideration. We are comforted that she spent her last days with such amazing, caring people.
