Basic information

Given the current COVID-19 environment we have temporarily disabled our ‘feedback’ feature. We apologise for any inconvenience.

Healthline is a free, nationwide health advice telephone service, funded by the Ministry of Health and available any time of the day or night.

Callers to the toll-free 0800 number (0800 611 116) can speak to a registered nurse for a range of health advice for all ages. Healthline nurses do not diagnose over the phone but assess the person’s condition and recommend the best course of action to take – which could range from advice on medical ailments and injury to the location of the nearest after-hours pharmacy.

People call Healthline with a wide range of health concerns and many people appreciate the fact that it’s available 24 hours a day, reassuring callers that they won’t be bothering anyone by ringing in the middle of the night. Nurses are ready to receive all calls on issues ranging from general symptomatic enquiries to questions relating to medication.
