About Matamata Country Lodge

Matamata Country Lodge logo

With care that’s steady, respectful, and tailored to who you are, you can relax knowing your well-being is our priority, every single day.

Matamata Country Lodge is set on six peaceful acres of grounds and gardens close to the town centre, making it easy for quick shopping trips, café catch-ups, and staying connected to the community you love. This beautiful historic building dates back to 1924, when it originally served as a maternity hospital, and it holds a special place in local hearts, with some of our residents and staff having been born or even birthed right here.

Our purpose is simple. To support your care and well-being so you can keep doing what you love, remain an active part of your local community, and enjoy your later years with confidence and comfort.

Thoughtfully designed, our home offers rest home, hospital, and respite care. We are proud to deliver care of the highest standard, and in 2022, we again achieved a 4-year accreditation, placing us in the top 25 per cent of residential care facilities nationwide.

Our Diversional Therapy team creates a rich and varied activities programme, including regular day trips using our fleet of vehicles. We make it easy for residents to stay involved in the wider community, whether that means welcoming local groups in to build connections, or heading out to nearby events and attractions.

Meals are cooked fresh on site every day, with favourites like fish and chips on Fridays and classic Sunday roasts always bringing people together.

Above all, our caring team nurtures a friendly, family-style atmosphere between residents, families, and staff, because feeling at home is about much more than a room. It is about belonging.

It matters deeply to us that you feel valued and supported when you choose Matamata Country Lodge as your home. If you have any questions about aged care or about life here, we would love to meet with you, hear your story, and talk through your needs.

Choosing a new place to call home is a big step, and it deserves to feel uplifting, safe, and genuinely yours. Here, life is not about slowing down. It is about being supported in keeping the people, passions, and routines that matter most to you.
