Alzheimers Wairarapa is an inclusive non-profit organisation dedicated to making life better for all people in the Wairarapa region affected by dementia.

We provide information, ongoing support, advice, education and personal advocacy for people with dementia, their carers, family and whanau. Anyone can refer people to our service.

Our staff are well trained, caring and knowledgeable about the many issues arising from a diagnosis of dementia. Our services are client centered, you decide what is best for you or family.

Are you affected by dementia ?

If you are supporting a family member with dementia or have a friend or neighbour with dementia, then the answer is yes, you are affected by dementia.

The symptoms of dementia progress over time and affect not just memory but the ability to undertake daily tasks, communication, mood and emotion.

Support Groups: we run meetings for our support group, once a month, the first tuesday - at our office at Solway Showgrounds, Doug Lamb Building, 1.30 pm til 3pm,

The aim of these meeting is to provide a safe environment in which people who are supporting a person affected by dementia can meet and share their experiences, by meeting together it helps us to understand that we are not alone.

Iona Day Activity Group:

Iona is run from Masonic Village Hall, 35 Edith Street, Masterton - two days per week, a tuesday and friday
Clients must meet criteria to access this service,
All those attending are treated with respect, diginity and understanding of their uniqueness.
