| U3A is the title adopted internationally to describe groups of older people who join together to enjoy further learning of any subject of their choice. The University of the Third Age uses the word "university" in it's original sense meaning a gathering for the pleasure of learning. |

| U3A is a world -wide organisation which began in the 70's and reached Hawkes Bay in 1992. The U3A sets up groups which meet mainly in private homes to study a wide variety of subjects. Some recreational and interest groups which provide social contact are also available. With over 400 members and over 50 interest groups we offer a wide variety of activities. You also have access to other courses run by the Hastings and Taradale U3As
The annual subscription is $10 and this allows members to join as many groups as they wish. The only other cost might be for refreshments and photocopied material in some groups. General meetings are held 5 times a year at the Havelock North Community centre for members of all groups to get to know each other and enjoy a talk by an invited speaker. Refreshments are provided. Members pay $5 and guests $8 |
