Summerset at Avonhead is our newest Christchurch retirement village. Nestled in the beautiful suburb of Avonhead, our first residents have just moved in in June 2019. As development continues, the village will grow to include around 240 homes, offering a range of modern, high quality living options including two and three bedroom villas and town houses, serviced apartment rooms in our care centre or apartments in our innovative Memory Care Centre.

Once the village centre is complete in 2021, Summerset at Avonhead's full continuum of care will be available. Summerset's full continuum of care means that should your needs change in the future, you will be able to access additional levels of care and support in your own home, in your serviced apartment or in our care centre. And, if you ever need ongoing care, as a resident you‘ll receive priority access, right up to hospital level and dementia care. You’ll always have peace of mind of knowing all support needs are taken care of without having to leave the village.
The village centre will also be the heart of the community, buzzing with a range of on-site activities and features. This includes a café, exercise room, library, hair salon, communal vegetable gardens, bar, indoor swimming pool, lounge, and barbeque facilities. An on-site Activities Coordinator will organise events, outings, and activities every week.

If you intend to ‘purchase’ you must get independent legal advice before signing your occupation right agreement as required under The Act. Some Retirement Village type facilities are not required to register under The Act so different legal requirements apply. Please make sure you investigate fully.
In some villages there may be some Retirement Village units that have multiple uses e.g. a Serviced Apartment may also be used as a Residential Care Suite. The same unit may therefore show in several places on Eldernet.
