Having read Michael McIntyre’s first book Life & Laughing years ago, I jumped at the chance to read and review his new book A Funny Life. I really enjoyed the new book which contained lots of funny stories and an insight into how comedy and panel shows in the UK work.
This book detailed Michael’s journey to where he is now and the obstacles that were in his way. I felt it to be honest and he wasn’t afraid to cover some failures he has had. There was quite a bit of name dropping but having spent a bit of time in the UK when this book was mostly set I think that helped with an understanding of the locations and who the comedians he was referring to in the UK comedy scene (and also some of his comedy sketches he wrote about).
Overall, a great read, full of great stories. I do admit to having a few laugh out loud moments!
