Disability Directorate are working with Standards New Zealand and the health sector to review standards related to health and disability services.
These standards are important because they set out the minimum requirements for fair and equitable health and disability services. Requiring people to meet these standards will improve the experience and outcomes of people and whānau.
The proposed version of the standards are centred more on people and whānau, empowering people to make decisions about their own care and support.
You can have your say on the new standards by going to Standards New Zealand before the consultation closes on 13 January 2021. There’s more information on the Ministry’s website.
