Access Homehealth has established its first Auckland base following the purchase of Howick Baptist Healthcare’s home support services.
Access is not-for-profit organisation fully owned by Rural Women New Zealand. Its involvement in home support services started in the 1920s with the Bush Nursing Service and now extends to seventeen DHBs throughout the country and national contracts with ACC and the Ministry of Health. Commenting on the change of ownership, Howick Baptist CEO Bonnie Robinson says selling to Access provides job security and on-going opportunities for staff, and ensures that clients will continue to have the same quality services from the same quality staff that they have come to expect.
"In choosing a new owner for our home support services we looked for a not-for-profit with similar values and the same commitment to quality services as we have."
This is the fourth home care organisation Access has acquired in the past twelve months. Following successful tenders with the Southern DHB and Hawkes Bay DHB- against a backdrop in the number of providers – Access subsequently purchased Dunedin Home Support Services, Home Support Hawkes Bay and the home support division of Anglican Care Waiapu, in Hawkes Bay.
