It is a special year for Eldernet. We are turning 20! Yes, that’s right – 20 years of innovating within the aged care sector.
Eldernet has transformed over the past 20 years. Eldernet Ltd was founded by Eleanor Bodger and a colleague in 1997. After working in the aged care sector as a social worker, Eleanor saw the need for one place that older people could go to find information about the services they needed. The idea was to provide information in relevant formats, in a timely and unbiased manner and in a comprehensive way. “To liberate us all from ageism” is Eldernet’s mission. Eldernet Ltd launched www.eldernet.co.nz in 1998 with the aim of having all residential care facilities, home support services and retirement villages listed.
In 2006 Eldernet completed the purchase of the publication ‘A Question of Care’ the forerunner to ‘Where from Here’. ‘Where from Here’ is now referred to as the ‘Aged Care Bible’ and is used extensively throughout the aged care sector as a reference guide and a source of important information for the older person and their support networks.
This year the team are participating in individual challenges all related to the number 20 to help celebrate this amazing achievement. If you want to see what we have all been up to take a look here.
