CEA’s Top Tips for saving power: Kitchen focus

  • Fridges and freezers are the two appliances that are likely to be the highest consumers of power in your house and even more so in summer. They can make up 15% of your power bill! Check the seal on your fridge door by running a piece of paper between the seal and door surface. If you can move it with the door shut, it is time to replace the seal because it is letting out cold air.
  • Make sure you only use your dishwasher when it is full. Putting it on for only a few things can be tempting, especially at the end of a busy week! Consider how much energy and water are being used, and whether it is worth doing them by hand instead.
