CEA’s energy saving tip: top tips to stay warm

As we are coming into winter, make the most of out of the natural free heat from the sun. Draw curtains and nets back in the morning, and close them late afternoon, just before dark, to trap the heat inside.

To prevent heat loss through windows, consider installing a DIY window kit. Available from the CEA’s office and online, the plastic film adheres to wooden window frames, providing a cheap alternative to double glazing. Packs start from just $30 and are easy to apply.

Don’t dry clothes inside. Drying your clothes inside will create dampness and make your home harder to heat. Use a dryer, dry outside or dry in the laundry with the door shut and a window open. If you have to dry clothes inside, do so away from living areas and ventilate the area.
