Avoid being taken advantage of

It is heart breaking to hear of situations where the trust that an older person has put in someone who they believe to be a legitimate advisor e.g. a tradesperson, door to door salesperson, a financial advisor or whomever, turns around and takes advantage of them.

Many older people report being approached at home by someone promising that their product or service is ‘just what they need’.

It’s perplexing; how does one keep up with an ever changing world? In fields where we have little or no knowledge (and cannot be expected to be), we have to rely on others and this makes it so much easier to become a target.

These reminders help keep good practice at the ‘top of mind’ – all ready for the next time an unsolicited salesperson arrives at the door.
