Palliative Care Contract No We provide Palliative Care management within the Specialized Dementia Care Unit.
Whanau Room Yes We have a room which can be used by family during the day.
Rooms (Single) Yes You will notice that bed heights vary. The lower beds particulary suit those who might be at risk of falls.
Ensuite No One room has their own toilet. We have one shared ensuite.
May Bring Own Furniture Yes We encourage residents to personalise their rooms with their own furniture and pictures.
Alcohol Permitted Yes This is by arrangement and will be kept in a secure area.
Pets In Residence Yes We have a cat named Radar who has access the facility.
Negotiate To Bring Own Pet Yes Residents are encouraged to have their pets visit and we would negotiate a pet coming to live with us on a case by case basis.
Resident can adjust heating in own room Yes Although in the new area there is underfloor heating throughout facility this can be adjusted by our staff to suit comfort levels.

Special Features
Special Features
Our facility has been designed to offer our residents a comfortable, caring environment. We offer a number of lounge areas, all with interesting outlooks, there are small lounges for those who like their own space. These lounges are set up so our staff are able to able to provide assistance and supervision as required.

We have wide and clear circular walkways throughout, with handrails to encourage resident mobility and allow a feeling of freedom and space.

The decor is fresh and comtemporary, we have a selction of photos of old Timaru - a point of reminiscence for many of our residents.

For those who respond well to the soothing effects of water therapy we have a spa bath as well.

Details re Meals Residents are encouraged to select from a menu daily. Home baking is a feature of morning and afternoon teas. Special diets are catered for.
Staffing Details We pride ourselves in our high standard of nursing care with Registered Nurses on duty 24 hours per day, seven days a week. Registered nurses are responsible for the direction and supervision of Enrolled Nurses and Hospital Aides
