View our village newsletter here. You will get a glimpse into village life and what's been happening lately. |
We had to place my mother in law in the Rest Home facility at EH in September 2015. Her husband had died 22 months earlier and she had been living alone in another retirement village which did not cater for her ongoing needs. Although she had onset Alzheimers she was managing OK until several nasty falls which resulted in her not being able to return to her home. Deciding where she was to live was extremely stressful especially for my husband who is the only child. Dealing with the loss of his beloved Dad and then having to move his mum into rest home care was a double whammy. However we both have to admit this was the best thing we could have done for her. The place is home from home - beautifully kept, light, clean, airy and welcoming. The staff are amazing - they pay particular attention to each individual's needs, their desire/or not to participate in events (with gentle encouragement until they feel able to do so) and there are regular meetings for family members where you can discuss any concerns about your loved one. My mother in law is happily settled thanks to the wonderful staff who care for her. If you are in any doubt, go for a visit and have a look round - you will be pleasantly surprised I'm sure.
