Awatere's Care Suites provide both Rest Home and Hospital level care, which means you can relax knowing you won’t have the upheaval of moving again if your needs increase.

Awatere makes the most of its spot in the sun, with facilities that are flooded with natural light and feel warm, fresh and inviting. There are plenty of comfortable nooks to enjoy – soak in the sun in the stunning courtyard, find a friend for a chat in the lounge or curl up with a book in the library. Nestled near Milne Park and the banks of the Waikato River, you can enjoy that perfect balance of city and suburban living. Handy to highways and arterial routes, and with public transport outside the gate, it’s a breeze for friends and family to visit, or to take you out to local shopping centres or eateries.

Choose from either a studio Care Suite with an open-plan bedroom and lounge, or a one-bedroom Care Suite with a separate bedroom and living area. Some Care Suites are large enough to accommodate couples, so you can be together – even if one of you requires Hospital level care. All Care Suites have a heat pump and full ensuite bathroom, as well as a kitchenette with a fridge and a kettle – perfect for making a cuppa when friends and family come to visit. We also have options with private balconies and/or patios.

Tender Sunday roasts, hot fish and chips and scrummy homemade puddings…there’s a reason why the dining room is full before dinner! All of the above are regular features on our menu, which is packed with tasty family favourites you’d make at home. You’ll be sure to want second helpings! Oceania has Australasia's first and only certified Specialist in Gerontological Nutrition as we are committed to ensuring our residents are getting the best possible nutrition from each and every meal.

Good food is best shared, and family and friends are welcome to come dine with you. Enjoy a barista coffee and a bite to eat from the onsite café or book in for a meal in the main or private dining room.

Our Guest Services Manager will get to know you and your interests, so they can help fill your day with the things you love to do. Whether it’s a simple video chat with family overseas or something that requires a bit more organisation like meeting friends at a show – either way, you can relax and let us take care of the logistics. Our activities calendar is packed with a variety of group and solo pursuits, so you can choose what you feel like doing. Hop in our van to explore an exciting new destination each week or enjoy some me-time listening to your own personalised playlist with our award-winning I Love Music programme.

Oceania is a leading provider of premium healthcare services in New Zealand. With over 40 locations across the country, we’ve been part of local communities for over 50 years. We’re recognised as industry leaders in care, winning awards for innovation, food, staff training and community engagement.

When it comes to your care, you know what you do and don’t like – and we want to know your preferences too. Because everyone is different, all of our residents receive a personalised care plan, so everything that’s important to you -from meals to medications - is covered.

The Ministry of Health conducts regular audits of Residential Care Facilities. They can be found HERE.

NOTE: The Retirement Villages Act 2003 (The Act) is designed to provide improved protection for people who ‘buy’ into a retirement village. If you intend to ‘purchase’ you must get independent legal advice before signing your occupation right agreement as required under The Act. Some Retirement Village type facilities are not required to register under The Act so different legal requirements apply. Please make sure you investigate fully.

In some villages there may be some Retirement Village units that have multiple uses e.g. a Serviced Apartment may also be used as a Residential Care Suite. The same unit may therefore show in several places on Eldernet.
