Translating from Te Reo Māori as the ‘place of the long lizard’, the Ōmokoroa Peninsula stretches from SH2 out into the Tauranga harbour, and boasts stunning views of Mount Maunganui and beyond.

Whether you're meeting with friends at the local cafés, getting involved in the multitude of local clubs and amenities, or breathing in the sea air on the newly opened Tauranga-Ōmokoroa Cycle Way and Bird Walk, there is plenty to keep you entertained.

Ōmokoroa has all of the benefits of coastal living, without the huge crowds. Enjoy boating, fishing, kayaking, and swimming, all in your own backyard.

Join the local Boat Club and take part in the multitude of sailing, fishing and pool competitions throughout the year, or simply enjoy the delicious food and stunning view from the Club Restaurant.

If water based activities aren’t your thing, there’s bound to be something else that takes your fancy. Keep your competitive spirits high at the Mah Jong, Bridge, or 500 clubs. Stay active with tennis, golf, bowls, aqua aerobics, or line dancing. Or think outside the box at the local Art, Gardening, Singles Over 50, Knitting, or Songsters clubs.

With all of this on offer, along with the huge range of facilities in nearby Tauranga and the wider Bay of Plenty, there’ll never be a dull moment.

NOTE: The Retirement Villages Act 2003 (The Act) is designed to provide improved protection for people who ‘buy’ into a retirement village. If you intend to ‘purchase’ you must get independent legal advice before signing your occupation right agreement as required under The Act. Some Retirement Village type facilities are not required to register under The Act so different legal requirements apply. Please make sure you investigate fully.

In some villages there may be some Retirement Village units that have multiple uses e.g. a Serviced Apartment may also be used as a Residential Care Suite. The same unit may therefore show in several places on Eldernet.
