Just 5 minutes from the Lake, St Johns Wood is in the perfect location to take advantage of the best Taupo has to offer – from shops and eateries, to beautiful walkways and stunning views. The village has a strong emphasis on community - whether it’s someone to chat to over a cuppa, or links to activities and clubs in the neighbourhood, it’s all here at St Johns Wood.

With tasteful décor and attractive spaces, St Johns Wood has an understated elegance that is fresh and attractive whilst still feeling homely and inviting. With a choice of one or two-bedroom apartments, visitors often remark how spacious they are - perfect for entertaining friends and family or simply enjoying the peace and quiet.

Many of our residents are active in the local community – enjoying social events at their local clubs and societies. St Johns Wood is ideally located just 5 minutes from the town centre and lake with easy access to public transport, getting to shops or visiting friends and family is a breeze. Or if you don’t feel like venturing very far, there is plenty to do right on your doorstep. Soak up the sun in the courtyard, come along for our award winning ‘Grandfriends’ programme, or join your neighbours for exercises or Happy Hour in the community lounge.

Live life the way you want to, with the freedom to do the things you love. We’ll take care of all the maintenance - building repairs, exterior cleaning and the gardening too. Don’t feel like cooking? Order a meal from our onsite chef. Knowing the weekly fee is fixed for life guaranteed means you can budget and have financial surety for the future.

For assistance in an emergency, call bells in your apartment will connect you to trained staff 24 hours a day. If your needs change, we can provide services to you in your apartment, or there is full rest home and hospital care onsite with the option of standard rooms or luxury Care Suites. You can be sure you’re in good hands. Oceania has won the Supreme Care Award from the NZ Aged Care Association 3 years in a row.

Minimum age of entry for residents is 70 years.

Special Features
Special Features
We have available a Serviced Hospitality Unit in the Village available for the use of visiting friends and relatives. It is a 1 bedroom unit but will sleep up to four comfortably. This is currently charged out at $80/night.

We also have Nineteen Care Suites which are 1 bedroom units contained within our Rest Home facilty. Full care can be provided to residents in these Care Suites at either a rest home or hospital level care.

The Care Suites provide residents with the independence of Village living but with the additional care as it is needed. This prevents residents having to move from their units/apartments if their level of care needs change.

Our Care Suites have proved to be very popular and currently we have a waiting list for the suites.

We have recently converted a standard room into a Studio Unit. This unit has tea/coffee making facilities, wall mounted flat screen TV, fridge and microwave. It is available as under Licence to Occupy

NOTE: The Retirement Villages Act 2003 (The Act) is designed to provide improved protection for people who ‘buy’ into a retirement village. If you intend to ‘purchase’ you must get independent legal advice before signing your occupation right agreement as required under The Act. Some Retirement Village type facilities are not required to register under The Act so different legal requirements apply. Please make sure you investigate fully.

In some villages there may be some Retirement Village units that have multiple uses e.g. a Serviced Apartment may also be used as a Residential Care Suite. The same unit may therefore show in several places on Eldernet.
