Bloom Living : the true meaning of freehold retirement living in Henderson.

Bloom Living’s new freehold apartment complex just up from Henderson town centre is now complete and offers Henderson residents an alternative option to traditional retirement villages says Bloom Living Director, James Klein.

The key difference with Bloom apartments is that they can be owned outright, which means owners retain any capital gains.
“The freedom to own our own homes is something that’s very dear to New Zealanders. We don’t believe that should change in retirement.” says Klein. “Our model is designed to ensure that, when our owners choose to sell, they get to keep 100% of the proceeds.”
Easy, low-maintenance living for those aged 55+
The other notable difference is that Bloom’s low-maintenance, easy care apartments are specifically designed for retirees – so much so, that it’s a requirement that they must be occupied (although not owned) by people aged 55 plus.

“We’ve found from experience that our owners love living in a small community of like-minded people with similar lifestyles and values” says Klein. “It means they have companionship and friendship close at hand - or alternatively they have a ‘lock and leave’ lifestyle if they prefer.”

Safe, solid, secure & close to amenities

The site has been carefully selected for its proximity to local transport and public amenities – it’s also adjacent to CHT Carnarvon Hospital, a private hospital for the elderly, which will soon be refurbished.

As well as a communal garden area and residents’ lounge, each of the ground floor apartments have their own garden areas. Higher-level apartments have large, functional decks – and every apartment comes with a car park.

There is a strong emphasis on security within the development, including resident-controlled entry to the complex and to individual apartments.

“Anyone thinking of down-sizing the family home and moving into a freehold, low-maintenance place of their own should be quick to view our apartments,” urges Klein. “They’re already proving very popular.”

Two bedroom apartments are priced from $589,000 plus there is a one-bedroom apartment priced at $494,000.

“Moving into my cosy Bloom apartment, making new friends and being in such a great location has been a very positive move for me.”
Bon - Bloom Edinburgh, Pukekohe

“I am so happy that I made the choice to downsize. I have more time to do all the things I enjoy and minimal time on the household necessities. Less stuff = less work!

We have a great community atmosphere. I know all my neighbours names – and they are all so friendly. You can be as private or as public as you wish.

I would recommend Bloom to any senior – you know they care about you having a good experience living there, and you do.

I buy the veggie plants and my neighbour plants them and looks after them – didn’t get that in the street where I lived before!”
Lyn - Bloom Edinburgh, Pukekohe

“Anne & I feel fortunate in deciding three years ago to shift into our Bloom Apartment in Papatoetoe. It is so well designed and built and is situated close to shops buses and rail which is important as we age. Having our own Title on this property was a big factor in our decision to purchase.

With an age restriction in place and good in-built security, we can lock up and go away with confidence. There is a common interest among us and residents have formed close friendships and socialise together or just prefer to do their own thing. The mix seems to work very well and we’re happy to have made the move.” Dennis - Bloom St George, Papatoetoe

“I love the downsize. It means very little housework. I love having a small manageable garden and raised veggie patch outside my door. I love living close to town with shops, cafes, cinema, doctor and hairdresser all within walking distance. Most importantly I enjoy the company and support of very pleasant neighbours . I am happy that Alfie, my little dog has been welcome in the complex!!”
Bridget - Bloom Edinburgh, Pukekohe

“A decision to buy an apartment in Bloom has brought me contentment, security and friendships. It also gives me a feeling of pride and was the best decision I could have made.”
Patricia - Bloom St George, Papatoetoe

“Living in Bloom Takapuna is just perfect for me. There are many aspects I could single out. A few that come foremost to mind is our locality, being close to the shops, close to the beach, close to the bus stops. Living in a safe environment with very agreeable neighbours is also a valuable aspect. Sue - Bloom Auburn, Takapuna

I have lived in my apartment for a year now and every day think how lucky I am. The location is perfect, design and build great and when you live by yourself security is paramount. I have met some lovely people and developed great friendships. Downsizing was a bit of a challenge but ultimately you realize how little you actually need.”
Melva – Bloom Edinburgh, Pukekohe

NOTE: The Retirement Villages Act 2003 (The Act) is designed to provide improved protection for people who ‘buy’ into a retirement village. If you intend to ‘purchase’ you must get independent legal advice before signing your occupation right agreement as required under The Act. Some Retirement Village type facilities are not required to register under The Act so different legal requirements apply. Please make sure you investigate fully.

In some villages there may be some Retirement Village units that have multiple uses e.g. a Serviced Apartment may also be used as a Residential Care Suite. The same unit may therefore show in several places on Eldernet.
