Welcome to Bloom Living. Construction is now complete at our latest freehold retirement complex at 20 Alfriston Road, Manurewa East. The complex has been officially named Bloom Hirstich after the Hirstich family who owned the site for over 70 years. The complex consists of two 4 level buildings with 47 apartments.

Bloom Hirstich offer's Manurewa and the Auckland community an alternative option to traditional retirement villages says Bloom Hirstich Director, James Klein. The key difference with Bloom apartments is that the are freehold so therefore can be owned outright, which means owners can retain any capital gains.

“The freedom to own our own homes is something that’s very dear to New Zealanders. We don’t believe that should change in retirement.” says Klein. “Our model is designed to ensure that, when our owners choose to sell, they’re able to keep 100% of the proceeds.”

The other notable difference is that Bloom’s low-maintenance apartments are specifically designed for those aged 55 plus.

“We’ve found from experience that our owners love living in a small community of like-minded people with similar lifestyles and values” says Klein. “It means they have companionship and friendship close at hand - or alternatively they have a ‘lock and leave’ lifestyle if they prefer.”

Our Bloom apartments are safe, solid, secure & close to amenities. The site for Bloom Hirstich has been carefully selected for its proximity to local transport and public amenities – including the Manurewa Cosmopolitan Club and Bowling Green which are both virtually next door.

As well as a residents’ lounge and communal gardens, each of the modern ground floor apartments have their own garden areas. First, second and top floor apartments have large, functional decks – and every apartment has its own car park.

There is a strong emphasis on security within the development, including resident-controlled entry to the complex and to individual apartments.

NOTE: The Retirement Villages Act 2003 (The Act) is designed to provide improved protection for people who ‘buy’ into a retirement village. If you intend to ‘purchase’ you must get independent legal advice before signing your occupation right agreement as required under The Act. Some Retirement Village type facilities are not required to register under The Act so different legal requirements apply. Please make sure you investigate fully.

In some villages there may be some Retirement Village units that have multiple uses e.g. a Serviced Apartment may also be used as a Residential Care Suite. The same unit may therefore show in several places on Eldernet.
