Tarahill Resthome is a purpose built Resthome in Te Awamutu, and was named after the ‘Hill of Tara’ in Ireland where the ancient Kings of Ireland were crowned.

Tarahill was built in 1986,and is a level north facing home that gets the all day sun, looking across Te Awamutu - the proprietors living quarters are attached and Tarahill is 2 kilometres south of Te Awamutu. The grounds at Tarahill
are expansive with good "off road" parking available.

Tarahill Resthome is privately owned by Heather and Gordon Lydford - Heather has been Nurse Manager at Tarahill since 1996. Tarahill is due to have a full Certification audit in December 2017.

Residents hold monthly meetings and are actively involved with the planning of meals/menus - our main meal is at night which the residents vote on monthly - they want it this way as it is their "home"

We are here to help you and your family and look forward to caring and sharing the experience with you all.

We get as many residents as possible out to various community based social programmes but respect the right for them to do their "own thing" if they wish to be on their own. Birthdays and special events are recognized and celebrated. We also have various groups come into our home to entertain our residents.

Families & friends are welcome to join in with any activity or celebration being held within our "home"

What's New
What's New

We are nearly into December and getting ready for the excitement of Christmas - many residents are going out to various Christmas concerts within Te Awamutu.

Our Christmas luncheon is being held on Saturday the 9th  December @ 11 a.m  at the home - this is a time when residents & their family members can spend some time together before the Christmas rush.

We have a delicious Christmas Day & New Years Day Menu planned - many residents go out either for lunch or for dinner on Christmas Day. We try to ensure every day is a special day for our folks.
