At Resthaven Lifecare, we are proud to offer personalised rest home, day care, respite, and secure dementia care. Our dedicated and experienced team are here to attend to both your everyday and urgent requirements. We believe in providing personable, compassionate, safe, respectful care, adding value to the quality of everyday living. Resthaven was opened as an Aged Care Residence in 1935 and the present facility has been in operation since 1980 and was previously run by The Salvation Army. It is a Heritage Lifecare facility and is a classic of its era, with a recently refurbished modernised interior.

We know it is very important to offer choices and to really listen to what our residents and their families want. Recognising the individual needs of our residents and to promote a friendly and comfortable environment is an important part of our philosophy. Residents get the help they need to be as independent as possible. The daily care fee, which is set under our contract with the district health board, covers a core care package. Other services are available on demand for an additional charge.

Resthaven is a 49-bed purpose built rest home located in the central city area of Christchurch, between the “four avenues”. The small lounges located at convenient points around the home are ideal for small groups of residents or residents and their visitors. There are two kitchenettes which contain a fridge - residents and visitors are welcome to make a ‘cuppa’ here.

Respecting the dignity, beliefs and culture of all helps us make each day the best it can be. Our residents and their families comment on the homely feeling we have created here. We would be delighted to have the opportunity to talk with you about our care. Please phone our Facility Manager, or feel free to drop in at any time.
