Podiatrist Yes Monthly visit every 3rd Tuesday or by appointment.

Respite Yes Provide palliative, hospital and rest home level respite care. For people wishing to access respite care contact can be made via the Nurse Manager.
Carer Support Yes Provide short stay care in the form of Health Recovery. (Additional hospital level stay for clients requiring further hospital level care to be fit for discharge home.) Day Activities programme with arrangements made for transport if required.
Subsidised Yes Residents come via FOCUS as being eligible for care. This is followed by WINZ agency financial and asset means test for qualification of Residential Care Subsidy.
Private Paying Yes This service is available, contact the Nurse Manager for information.

May Bring Own Furniture Yes More than happy for residents to bring their own furniture if they wish to do so, and this is encouraged.
Single Rooms Yes Room sizes vary with many being of generous proportions.
Rooms suitable for a couple Yes 1 pair of rooms that are available for a couple. Note this is dependent on occupancy of rooms across the facility.
Ensuite Yes Toilet facilities are ensuited for 7 rooms.
Alcohol Permitted Yes We have Happy Hour and this is incorporated into our recreation and activities programme. Evening drink with the main meals if so desired.

Outings Yes We have our own mobility van for trips sightseeing in our local area, visit other rest homes, visit gardens, movies, and to have outings to the Greater Wellington Region. Residents can bring own mobility scooters to access Greytown shops.

Residents Committee Yes Meet quarterly, chaired by an independent Resident's advocate and all family members are welcome.

Confused Residents Yes All residents are assessed and their personal health and safety needs form the basis of their care plans. If medical assessment is required this is arranged or any further treatment.
Rural Setting Yes Greytown is semi-rural and is on SH2. It has a Victorian feel with many specialty boutique shops. Cafes and eateries are numerous. Soldiers Park and a bush reserve 800 metres away.
Smoking Permitted Yes In designated area outside for residents. No smoking in the building is permitted. Arbor House has a smokefree policy in place.

Special Features
Arbor House provides a range of options for people in the South Wairarapa needing individualised quality care. These range from day services to short term respite through to residential or hospital level permanent care. Arbor House is a "not for profit" Charitable Trust, this ensures services benefit our residents, and have a voice on services the residents wish to receive. Arbor House is well supported by our local community with many businesses donating their time and goods for projects to further improve our facility and residents enjoy their time here with us.

Arbor House also provides nursing care for people in the community requiring palliative respite care respite. Our professional links with medical consultants, palliative care multidisciplinary teams and ourselves is excellent in delivering the care you wish your loved ones to receive.

Arbor House also provide Health Recovery for those people needing additional nursing input prior to returning home. Arbor House coordinate the additional services you may require such as assessments for home care, GP visit etc.

Arbor House has an open door policy, whereby family and friends are welcome at any time.

Volunteers provide a great service from reading books, running housie and playing music and best of all the residents love it! It is all part of staying connected to their community.

Details about Meals All our meals are cooked on site. Home baking. Seasonal and four week rotational menu developed by dietician. We cater for all dietary needs, eg. diabetic, weight reduction, vegetarian, low residue diet. All our vegetables are sourced locally. Meat and groceries are supplied by Bidvest Wholesalers who guarantee best produce.
Staffing Qualifications and Details All our staff have an affinity with the aged. We have Registered Nurses and trained caregivers through Careerforce programme in support of the older person, through to on-site training or from the Polytechnic.

Public Transport 0.50 km Buses service the South Wairarapa, Carterton and Masterton. Train service runs from Masterton to Wellington. Woodside station is located 5km from the township, a connecting bus service to and from Greytown is provided.
Shops 0.20 km Cafes, eateries, specialty boutique shooping. Greytown is a hive of activity from October-April with many people coming to the region for shopping and cafe experience. Arbor House has a stall at the Greytown Country Market in Nov/Dec
Mall 28.00 km Masterton is 25 minute drive. Wellington is approximately 1 hour away, and Palmerston North 1 hour 30 minutes
Parks 1.00 km Kuratawhiti Park and Bush reserve both under 1 km away. Soccer and cricket played on the village green. Stella Bull Park is located on the main street by the shopping precinct.
Library 0.40 km Library is part of the Greytown Town Hall and is located in the centre of town.
